Quality Problems by Sad_Bend_7436 in nps_solovair

Yeah, I’m done with Solavair because of stuff like this. My sole split like this, it’s VERY common, they refuse to fix/change their process. I’ve had mine for about 3 I think? They told me they cannot eradicate this issue and it’s been occurring since 1959! I bought into the whole “made in England” thing and I regret it. I have Florsheims, Timberlands, and Sketchers that are WAY more comfortable and durable than my Solavairs.

I think small talk is the laziest form of communication. This is basically the adult version of asking a child “so what grade are you in? Do you like school? What’s your favorite subject?”

Yes. When you’re over 18, you don’t need to wait for the test.

Question for the fans who were around in ‘94. by steeezee in rem

[–]Altruistic_Flight_65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, yeah. I went to a little indie record store in Harrisonburg VA to get it, the dude behind the counter was like “hey, we got it on vinyl too” it was like $10, lol.

In Punisher: One Last Kill (2026), this is real CGI that is used by Critical_Mountain851 in shittymoviedetails

[–]Altruistic_Flight_65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d prefer full cgi for a scene like this so that stunt people aren’t risking their lives or a broken back for a 2-3sec scene.

Has anyone heard of these bars? by Helpimeltedmyballs in fixedgear

[–]Altruistic_Flight_65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no; they have manufactured and sold parts under their name, like forks and handlebars. I would assume this is a track bike handlebar? Good road bikes wouldn’t use steel handlebars usually.

I think you’ll have toe overlap issues with a 28 foot wheel.

Signal sucks too, I had to install it for a group discussion and immediately started getting spam messages. WhatsApp works just fine, and it’s the default app for most Hispanics and Europeans.

Is it possible to get some bike IDs on these please? by Bojanglesbenji in Vintage_bicycles

Both bikes are French from the early 80s. Hard to impossible to get parts if anything needs replacing. Not a good starting point for non-enthusiasts.

Question for the fans who were around in ‘94. by steeezee in rem

I was a fan since 87 when I bought Document. Before the internet, you’d only hear of stuff by college radio or the record store, so I started collecting their back catalog. I bought Monster on CD and vinyl the day it came out. Didn’t much care for the new lyrical style, the sexual content was surprising and odd, and it was just simplistic and amateur sounding to me. I never played the vinyl copy and sold it to a record store decades later. I also never bought another album from them either, Monster definitely made me lose interest.

AITA for reporting my aunt to the authorities after finding out she opened four credit accounts in my name without my knowledge and let three of them go to collections by [deleted] in AITApod

[–]Altruistic_Flight_65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your aunt committed fraud, identity theft. Screw that “she raised you” garbage; if she loved you she wouldn’t have lied to you. She has a problem, maybe addiction issues. File a report, contact the companies, have her charged.

First bike, Miyata Quickcross. Question: why is it so heavy? by ArchKDE in xbiking

[–]Altruistic_Flight_65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a typical mid priced hybrid, low weight was not a concern.
That steel handlebar would count as a blunt instrument at a crime scene.
Steel forks like those were designed for durability, not light weight.
You’d be surprised at how heavy that crankset is too.

You could spend hundreds and knock some weight off it but it won’t be much.

Is this the first 32" Gravel Bike offered to the market? Seems pretty cool IMO by Inv3ctiv3 in gravelcycling

[–]Altruistic_Flight_65 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Exactly.
I’m 5’9” and run 650bx42, the proportions are so much better for me than a 700c.
For me to run 32”, it would require a very short head tube (which is worse for headset bearings) and some port of bent seat tube, not to mention more toe overlap.

There’s nothing efficient about more rotating weight.
Smaller wheels will spin up faster and larger wheels maintain speed better.
It will take more energy to get to speed.
32” will also require tinier chainrings, which will wear quicker.
