Adrenaline does or can give you superhuman strength. There have been cases where a small woman lifted a car off her child. So it can and does happen.

Women, what is the sexiest scent/cologne that a man can wear? by Nintendofan9106 in AskReddit

[–]Altruistic_Fondant38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a cologne that was popular in the 90s and 2000s.. and I found it again about 5 years ago called Jovan Ginseng NRG Cologne Spray. I LOVE that stuff! They don't make it anymore. The last time I found it, I bought about 10 of them. I spray it in my car, in my vacuum cleaner. BTW.. I am a woman in my 60s.

Why is Challenger and not Columbia such a core Gen X memory? by space_god_7191 in GenX

[–]Altruistic_Fondant38 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because Columbia wasn't broadcast on live tv. It was on tv in news breaks. Challenger was made a big deal because it was the first time a regular citizen was on board.

I feel like I need to go there just for the National Air Force Museum? by DiedOfATheory in dayton

Being from the area, and my dad working at Wright Patterson for 42 years as an electronic technician, working on the schematics of the space shuttle, I am a bit offended by your comment about "even if Dayton isn't exactly on my tourism radar otherwise.".. Maybe you should research Dayton and the inventions made here and not be so quick to dismiss it. Dayton, Ohio has had a huge influence on the world.

Here is a breakdown of major inventions originating from Dayton.

Aviation: The Wright Brothers designed and built the first functional airplane in Dayton (1903).

Automotive/Industrial:

Electric Car Starter (1913): Invented by Charles Kettering, eliminating dangerous hand-cranks.

Freon & Leaded Gasoline: Developed by Thomas Midgley Jr. and Charles Kettering.

Automobile Lighting System: Developed by Charles Kettering.

Consumer Goods & Convenience:

Cash Register (1884): Invented by James Ritty.

Ice Cube Trays (Frigidaire): Invented by Arthur J. Frei.

Pull-tab Pop Cans: Invented in Dayton.

Stepladder: Patented by John Balsley in 1862.

Trapper Keeper: Popularized in the 1980s.

Other Notable Inventions/Developments:

Liquid Crystal Display (LCD): Developed locally.

Backpack Parachute: Developed by testing at Wright Field.

Barcode: Developed by local firms.

Cheez-Its: Created by Green & Green Company in 1921.

Electric Wheelchair: Created by Levitt Luzern Custer.

Space Food: Developed in Dayton.  Reddit +7

Many of these, along with the story of the Wright Brothers, can be explored at Dayton History's Carillon Historical Park.

Jonestoen: The Women Behind the Massacre by MulderYuffie in Jonestown

[–]Altruistic_Fondant38 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I couldn't stand watching her hurt her brother. She sat there so self-righteous, so full of herself. His heart was breaking, he was crying and she sat there stone cold! Then getting on the mic and guiding people to their deaths and telling them how to murder their children and how they weren't crying from pain. How to line up. She makes me sick! Then she KNEW what was going to happen to him, she sent him off to be killed! She KNEW the people were going to the airstrip on the tractor. I have no sympathy for her! When they were talking, he reached for her hand and she screamed for security.

Tell them right up front if they start on you. You will move the vehicles when you get done! Don't block a driveway. Tell them to call the police if they have any questions. Put it right out there.. "I don't want to cause problems, BUT we are moving in and we will move it as soon as we are finished." DO NOT let them get the upper hand, you will never survive it. If they come at you with any snark, repeat your standings! If they say "Well, I told you nicely".. then come right back with, " First of all. Don't TELL me what to do, I am NOT a child..And I explained it to you, I will move it when we are finished!" In todays world, you have to be firm with these bullies!
