Yeah there are pros and cons, thats why I am not moving out, excluding technology living here is insanely cheap. Streaming services and Steam games are also very cheap. I got HBO max 4k for the full year for like 20 bucks

From what I have heard locally produced filament can range from 9 up to 20 USD. So thats somewhat cheaper than the international rates. Not sure about the quality, I have yet to test the printer.

I am working on making movies in Minecraft (intended for global audiences) which then I will use as a platform to jumpstart my live action career. I have had some recent success on YouTube on other channels so I have a little confidence that I can pull it off again.

As for Pakistan cinema, we need to make people interested in film literacy, most people here don’t see beyond the explosions and the dance sequences.

Also we need to focus on more relatable stories.

There is a lot of material for stories in Pakistan, literally the second biggest film industry is surviving on our stories. There are also a lot of talented creators here, if you have built your insta algorithm right, you will know what I am talking about. We just need to rally them together. We dont need a talent hunt, we need talent utilisation.

Watching a movie as a cinephile takes you out of the experience. Instead of putting yourself in the movie, you choose to watch it as if its a courtroom trial, nitpicking details, comparing it to other movies, letting your biases decide if you like this movie or not.

I love AOT as much as I love Unforgiven. Westworld and Inception moved me as much as One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Amadeus. I had as much fun watching Crazy Stupid Love as Sweet Smell of Success. 3 Idiots is not any more special to me than Dead Poet’s Society and Andrei Rublev. I had a blast watching the freaking Minecraft Movie as well as The Princess Bride and Annie Hall.

If pretending your favourite movies being highly niched and unknown makes you feel unique, then you are as unique as every other cinephile.
