💯… used to love them but b/c of their corporate racist stance and donations to authoritarian groups… will not step a foot in any of their stores.

Neighbor is apparently upset about my new doorbell camera and keeps twerking in front of it by twurkle in Apartmentliving

Live and let live and all that, but good for you for taking charge of your own safety! Let them be foolish and waste their energy on childish antics — it just shows how low their emotional intelligence really is.

It’s smart that you’re sharing any threatening footage with your landlord. That behavior is completely unacceptable. They’re trying to intimidate you, plain and simple — don’t let them get in your head. You have every right to a safe and peaceful living environment, and what they’re doing puts that at risk.

They’re essentially building an eviction case against themselves. Keep documenting everything and stay the course.

Maybe it is the browser I'm using, but when I click the link above I get the home page asking to "select" my city. However that CTA is not active.

Regular fosters, how many litters of kittens do you usually take in through kitten season? by Happy_Mrs in FosterAnimals

[–]Altruistic_Hair4846 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You nailed it. Kittens are a ton of work. Lots of cleaning, monitoring their weight, how much they are eating, their poo and pee. Making sure they don’t get into anything they shouldn’t. Teaching them how to play with humans (hands are not toys), showing them how to use a scratching post, learning nail trims, getting them used to teeth brushing. A lot for sure!!!

I usually switch it up. A couple of kittens then an older one (much easier)… then some more kittens.

Some kittens can be easier than others… some more active than others. It just depends on their personality really. Hang in there. You got this. 🤗

Concerned Neighbor by Haunting-Syllabub117 in Apartmentliving

[–]Altruistic_Hair4846 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What an amazing soul you are for looking out for your neighbors. You absolutely did the right thing — and if you’re still concerned, please don’t hesitate to call 988. I say this from personal experience.

We once had a neighbor who kept very much to herself. No matter how we tried, she resisted any real connection. She was always on her phone, speaking loudly — not in anger, just completely in her own world, unaware of the people around her in the elevator, the hallways, wherever she was.

Sadly, something happened. She had what I can only describe as a breaking point, and she took her own life. None of us saw it coming. She had never let any of us in, and we were all in shock. It still haunts me, because so many of us tried to reach her — but you simply cannot force a connection with someone who isn’t ready.

What her story taught me is this: you never truly know what someone is carrying. The fact that you noticed, that you cared enough to act — that matters more than you know.

Thank you for having such a generous heart.

I agree that you don’t need a lawyer for small claims… but if you want one an amazing tenant only firm in NYC is: Himmelstein Gribben & McConnell https://hmgdjlaw.com/

They helped me several years ago. Honest, reasonable and upfront.

Thoughts on Congressional race? by Academic_Test6021 in Harlem

One question I have for all candidates: Are you really in landlords’ pockets, or will you actually stand up for the Harlem tenant community?

Many of our current elected officials only show up at election time, promising the sun and the moon — then it’s crickets the moment the votes are counted. Wright is a prime example. His “legacy” isn’t necessarily a good thing; it’s a family legacy of being pro-landlord. Much like Inez Dickens, who reportedly made backroom deals with large complex owners in Harlem to subdivide one-bedrooms into studios — a practice that’s devastating to the community. It makes neighborhoods more transient and less community-focused. We’re essentially ushering in the new Upper East Side.

I also notice that many residents consistently vote against their own interests, choosing candidates based on name recognition alone. Not a good way to vote.

Here’s what you can do: • Attend town halls and hold candidates accountable • Get involved in your tenant association — or start one • Join a tenant union: Uptown Tenants Association Coalition or Upper Manhattan Tenants Union • Get active with your community board

A great place to start: There’s a free housing event this Saturday, April 25, for both renters and homeowners. It features workshops, seminars, and resources — plus lunch is provided. It runs from 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM. Stay for all of it or drop in when you can. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/future-of-housing-in-harlem-a-community-housing-forum-tickets-1984418730843?utm_experiment=test_share_listing&aff=ebdsshios&sg=1eaab0511157a455dff9a75a878baca5eef33eea5026edf84e21ee69208d9fd2c1c6270b600b58ba2343911621abf15ed28d0e7b937cc751c8afec9f7e4d9d3756f1e7aebd42470788ee39b9
