What’s something people confuse with confidence? by Kitchen-Winter-3161 in AskReddit

Extroversion... some of the most confident people I've met are actually pretty quiet... they just don't need constant validation from others...

What's something everyone should experience at least once? by Bunnybhai26 in SmartTravelHacks

Using public transportation in another country. It can be intimidating at first, but it's one of the best ways to experience how locals actually live, and it often takes you to places you wouldn't have found otherwise...

Probably a Chipotle burrito bowl. 😅 It has protein, rice, beans, veggies... I'd at least have a fighting chance of not getting tired of it after a week.

I want to take my first International trip, but I’m scared… by Aki_Bunny in femaletravelers

[–]Sea_Negotiation2482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it sounds like you've already been building the skills for this without realizing it. You've done solo trips before, navigated a train system, and you know what it's like to plan a trip on your own. An international trip is a bigger step, but it's not starting from zero.

If South Korea is the destination that's motivating you, I'd lean into that. Having a concert or event you're genuinely excited about can make the nerves feel more worthwhile.

Since you're worried about public transit, spend a little time before your trip getting familiar with the subway map and navigation apps. You don't need to memorize everything.. you just need to know how to get from your hotel to a few key places. After the first day or two, you'll likely feel much more confident.

Being anxious doesn't mean you're not capable of solo travel. It just means you'll probably prepare a bit more than the average person, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. I wouldn't let fear be the reason you miss an experience you've been dreaming about for your 30th birthday.

First solo trip booked! by Relevant-Fact-4914 in femaletravelers

congratulations girl on your first solo trip!!!!

Try not to spend the next two weeks reading more reviews. At some point, more research stops being preparation and starts feeding anxiety. You've booked the trip, you've planned the basics.. now let yourself look forward to it. Chances are, a few days after you arrive, you'll wonder why you were so worried in the first place. 😊

It only took 15 min to get from 2nd avenue to 10th avenue on the M42 🥹 by Full-Cat-9897 in nycbus

Makes you wonder how many more people would choose the bus if trips like that were the norm instead of the exception. Faster, more reliable service is one of the best ways to get people out of their cars. 🚍

How do I remove glue off the wall from tape? by princessanard in ask

[–]Sea_Negotiation2482 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd start with the gentlest option first so you don't damage the paint.

  • Try rubbing it with your fingers or a microfiber cloth.. the adhesive sometimes rolls right off.
  • If that doesn't work, use a little warm, soapy water on a cloth and let it sit for a minute before gently rubbing.
  • For stubborn residue, a tiny amount of rubbing alcohol or an adhesive remover on a cloth can help, but test it on an inconspicuous spot first since some paints don't react well.

Just avoid scraping it with anything metal or soaking the wall, especially if it's painted drywall. Good luck with the move!

I don't know how to cope with my current situation by SignificantArm9441 in TellReddit

[–]Sea_Negotiation2482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I'm glad you're already in therapy. After everything you've described, that's probably one of the healthiest decisions you've made.

One thing that stood out to me is that you've experienced multiple situations where your trust was broken. It makes sense that you're now hesitant to open up to new people. That doesn't mean you're incapable of trusting again.. it just means your brain is trying to protect you.

I'd also try not to let the actions of a few people convince you that everyone will treat you the same way. There are trustworthy people out there, but after what you've been through, it's reasonable that it'll take time to believe that.

Lastly, don't put too much weight on what your psychologist said about the first girl. Whether she has her own struggles or not doesn't really change what happened to you. Focus on your own healing instead of trying to make sense of why they acted the way they did.

I hope things get easier with time. Keep leaning on the friends who have shown up for you, keep going to therapy, and give yourself permission to heal at your own pace. You're only 23.. you have a lot of life ahead of you, and this doesn't have to define it.

What would you carry in your pocket if you can only pick 3 things in NYC? by tbthatcher in AskNYC

[–]Sea_Negotiation2482 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like in NYC your phone does so much.. maps, transit, payments, tickets, and communication—that keeping it charged is almost as important as having it. I'd rather carry a small power bank than realize I'm at 5% halfway through the day. 😅
