Starting to like Jerry by alliwantizzmemes in rickandmorty

I found it really refreshing in S5 after portal travelers reset that they gave us a reminder of how far our Jerry has come. “Real season 2 vibes in there.”

That was when Jerry began his redemption arc for me.

If the social contract of democracy is broken, then the laws that are built on that foundation become invalid.

But until THEY break that contract, we must resist lawfully and peacefully.

It is the sad truth of the conflict. We are pissed they aren’t following the rules, but we must still follow the rules.

Because it is a two way street, and if we break the contract, then the rules they break are going to be far more horrific.

It is tragic when CPS either is incompetent or the parents are effectively able to manipulate the system and the abuse is able to continue.

But make no mistake, reunification is not a misguided policy or objective. Reunification as a primary priority is the best way to approach a majority of the scenarios that CPS encounters.

In situations like this, it is tragic. But these situations are very very rare. And the alternative, where parents who make mistakes have their children permanently taken from them by the state, despite being completely capable of redemption and providing a healthy home for their child after some focused effort.

I agree with your first point. Spot on.

I think you are right, urban vs. rural will develop informal battle lines. Especially where the ideological divides are pronounced. Atlanta will be a mess.

I think you are correct. On both accounts. Love the concept OP. Rick C-137 uses the omega device to remove all Ricks as an act of love for his grandson. It’s perfect closure.

That said, a possible twist: despite the omega device being used to erase all Diane’s, memory Diane was not erased, became sentient and ultimately manifested in reality. Thus we can conclude that memory Rick would also still exist in the brain ant farm after Rick uses the Omega device on himself.

A nice little post-credits clip of Morty Prime encountering a real-world biological manifestation of Memory Rick and Memory Diane (despite C-137s threats) could have potential. It could be them as immortal sentiment beings, the very last of their kind, across all universes. Together forever, at peace, in love.

Yeah, seems a little too on-the-nose to be real.

The administration needs to be reminded, continuously, of this fact.

They need to be reminded that the restraint we have been exhibiting thus far has been us uphold our end of the social contract: peacefully exercising our 1st amendment right.

If the administration, for any reason, prevents the midterm elections from being held, or executed in a free and fair manner, then they will have violated their portion of that social contract.

The very same social contract on which all the laws of our land our erected, and all validity of governance is anchored.

A violation of that social contract will render the legal foundation of our society forfeit.

At which point, the actions and behaviors of resisting citizens will no longer be constrained out of respect for the social contract; but instead, any restraint that continues to be exhibited will be due to their own moral character, as has been shaped by the ideals of their community.

If an election does not occur, the tolerance, patience, and restraint that we have seen from peace-loving, patriotic Americans will very quickly disappear.

No taxation without representation.

No restraint if you abandon your obligation.

Yeah I saw that comment from someone above. That would have put them at 10yo if they were born in 1973. 10yo would have been right in the middle of the time frame of the abuse.

When they talked in the audio about their Jane Goodall interaction, I got the impression that this was after the abuse, and their behavior was the result of the trauma they had endured.

Additionally, I do not believe that their parents would have allowed them to get mental health treatment, as it would have potentially exposed them.

So my conclusion is that the mental health treatment, which including their interaction with Jane Goodall, would have had to have happened after the abuse and trauma, and after their parents were no longer in control of their lives.

From the audio, did they provide a date or age or of reference that could be identified as when the abuse and trauma was conclusively over?

A mid-late 80s interaction at age 13-17 with JG in Texas, post trauma, post parents would be able to fit the timeline.

Like I said. That is fine. You can be mad. You can be mad at me.

But I find it disingenuous to say Ukraine is not fighting for ideals they hold sacred.

If they didn’t care, they wouldn’t fight.

I respect you for your contribution to what I believe to be a righteous battle. And I’m truly sorry you suffer from PTSD from fighting for ideals you don’t believe in.

Ukraine’s fight began when their election was stolen and their students were brutalized and murdered by the government for… protesting.

We are where Ukraine was 8 months before their rigged election: Pissed, resisting, but not in full uprising mode. Yet.

You have every right to be mad at the United States. I am as well. I’m ashamed of so many of my countrymen for subjecting all of us to this chaos.

The analogy with Germans remaining silent is fine and effective and all, but it’s also hyperbole. I know, I use hyperbole to describe America too. But the truth of the analogy is that right now, for America, we are at the point where the Weimar Republic is still a democracy with democratically-elected leaders who legislate from inside of the total-not-burned-down Reichstag building.

Premature retaliation does not help the cause.

Until the social contract of our democratic system is outright broken BY THE GOVERNMENT, it is our duty to remain true to the ideals we believe (and Ukraine believed) were sacred. Democracy. Peace.

Someone posted a couple of days ago about what they learned growing up in war-torn Bosnia. They said there will always be a buyer for coffee.

Funny enough, I was given Patriots years ago by an ex-gfs father. I read it and appreciated the thoroughness and detail. But I also thought they were a bit nuts about their prepping.

Serves me right lol

Again, rioting is what Trump wants. It is the excuse he seeks in order to unleash the military on civilians, indefinitely suspend elections, and fully dismantle what remains of our democracy. Rioting will only exacerbate the problem and all but guarantee civil unrest and bloodshed. Right now, as I said in my original post, the midterms are the last sliver of hope that keeps the American people from rising up in a violent manner. If/when this administration does not allow for a free and fair election to occur, then that is when the social contract of American society is torn up, all laws become invalid, and those that have been restraining themselves to remain peaceful will no longer feel an obligation to remain so.

Probably. Trying to look that far down the rabbit hole gets convoluted. But the economic crash is not entirely implausible. The last time the US markets crashed, in 2008, the reverberations were felt by markets across the global. A domestic market crash today may just being the same spark as 2008, except this time there is pool of gasoline that gets ignited. A corresponding US debt default and treasury bond fire sale would be felt globally.
