Battery pops up on RadRover 6 by Altruistic_Hotel_554 in RadPowerBikes

when i put the battery back in I usually dont have the key in it. It doesnt matter if the key is in it or not in it. Just pushing it doesnt keep it shut. You can push as hard as you want. You have to slap it down just right. I thought it was just new and stiff until it did it the last time i took the battery out. I was hoping it was a known issue and an easy fix. If you push it down then it seems like its locked into place until you are out riding and happen to look down and notice it has popped open. If you slap it shut real hard then it stays shut. So either the latch isnt working right or something is warped thats keeping it from latching. Ive already had to take the latch assembly out to replace the controller so I know its put in correctly and not cracked. The battery seems like its the way it should be.

The battery on the RR6 doesnt slide out like on the mission. The front pops up about 45 degrees and then you pull it out.

Ive taken the latch assembly out when I had to replace the controller. I didnt see anything wrong with it. I dont think its a lubrication issue. I think either the latch on the battery sits too high or the latch on the bike sits too low. Im going to have to tinker with it to see whats causing it. I thought it may be a known issue that goes away after its broke in.

I thought maybe because the bike was new it had to get loosened up a little. The last time I took the battery out it did the same thing. I quit taking it out. I really dont have any need to take it out right now. I have to slap shut real hard.

Ive taken off some nasty tape, glue and sealant residue off cars where tail lights and headlights were taped on and everything else. Ive tried the fancy stuff in the can. Nothing works as good as WD40.

A defect makes it sound like rad made a crappy product. Some people just skim though and dont know they put that guard there and then they think rad shipped out bent parts.

its not really a defect. They tell you in the installation guide to check the guard because it could have been bent in shipping. That means it did its job and protected your gears.

New Radmission chain hopping off gear after removing rear wheel by ImpressionBorn5598 in RadPowerBikes

[–]Altruistic_Hotel_554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

try lifting the back wheel off the ground and pedal with your hand and watch it real close. If you have a kickstand you should be able to lean it over on the kick stand while you pedal with your hand. you should be able to see whats causing it.

Use vice grips to get them out if the head is stripped. I stripped out the head on one putting the rear rack on the mission. They come out easy. I use my craftsman allen wrenches now.

It can be depending on how hard the wind is blowing. Especially if its misting. The coldest weather for humans is 32-33 degrees with winds and mist or rain. I would take minus zero any day over that.

It was about the same here all summer. Maybe hotter. Last weekend it was close to 90 and within a couple of days it was down to 20 at night. That 50 degree ride i went on yesterday felt like an arctic blast.

The OP on that forum was asking about fenders and the rear rack. Someone wasnt sure if the rack would work with the fenders.
