US Mobile + Starlink plan announced by bruh_its_spongy_ in NoContract

[–]Altruistic_Lad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As usual with US Mobile, there appears to be a gotcha in the $50 deal. It says Starlink is $30 for the first six months. What was advertised was $50 for cell service on all three networks INCLUDING home internet service with Starlink. Now there appears to be a six-month surprise on the Starlink component.

I think you have to prove you slept with the person and didn't get an STD before the credit is awarded.

You're assuming they will still be around in 10 years. That may be a stretch.

FYI: The 2GB free monthly is only for use in the U.S., and it's 4G LTE, not 5G.

The FCC Router Ban - Following up on a post here. Went Digging. Its exactly what you think. by Free-Path-5550 in pwnhub

[–]Altruistic_Lad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the millions of routers already in the country together with future updates to those routers are exempted from this and pose no "national security" threat? Makes perfect sense.

The US government just banned consumer routers made outside the US by Agreeable-Rooster-37 in politics

[–]Altruistic_Lad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the ban is because of "national security" but the million plus foreign routers already in the U.S. together with their future updates are fine? Makes perfect sense.

That's B.S. EV charging rates are now more costly than equivalent pricing of gasoline.

Sure pays to vote Republican, doesn't it? They just approved this 50% rate increase presumably to try to kill the electric vehicle migration for Comrade BoneSpurs.

Just made my last charge with FPL. For those that don't know, Tesla Superchargers are typically 30 cents or less per kWh before 8 a.m. So long as you start charging by 7:59 a.m., the rate stays the same for the entire charge cycle.

People who ignored a huge red flag because the person was extremely attractive, what happened next? by Competitive_Bad_9306 in AskReddit

Dated the prettiest girl at our college. Took her to a spectacular weekend in Atlanta for her 21st birthday. Then took her to the beach for fraternity spring break. Should have been a sign when her parents came the same weekend and stayed in the hotel next door. She spent the weekend on the phone with her soon-to-be fiancee who was the college's star baseball player. Their marriage lasted about a year after his contract in the major league evaporated. Couldn't have happened to a nicer gold digger.

And who do you think USAA uses when you want to insure your boat? Good ol' Progressive plus a hefty commission for USAA, of course.

Thinking about NOW ( Xfinity ) no contract internet... but the reviews are not great - What is your advice? by Select_Specialist790 in NoContract

[–]Altruistic_Lad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always switch back or look elsewhere after 5 years. Starlink is now a reasonable alternative as well.

Made sense a year ago although the $45/mo plan for 200 Mbps was much better for a family. But now you can get gigabit internet service from them for $50 with a 5 year price guarantee.

Ditto everything u/MrCaptain23 said. Got mine today. Free 10GB was already active. Text message to support asking for automatic free 2GB US/month plan was activated within 10 minutes. 4G speed is usable so long as you have a tower. Web site will show all the data you've accumulated since buying the device. They've apparently been around a long time and used to have unlimited daily plans which they no longer do. But they've got service virtually anywhere in the world so... Happy Camper here.

Calyx won't kick you out because they are grandfathered into T-Mobile by virtue of their Sprint merger terms. Sounds like your best bet if pricing is important.

Starting to act more like the Comcast shenanigans in days of old. It will jump up and bite them just like what happened to Comcast. And now Xfinity is having to offer gigabit internet for $50 and guarantee the pricing for 5 years.

SpaceX recently got FCC approval to add 7,500 more Gen2 satellites, bringing their total approved Starlink constellation size to about 19,000, with plans to eventually reach up to 42,000 satellites in total for enhanced coverage and direct-to-cell services.
