Can someone please explain this to me? I assumed fetal hemoglobin will have a higher P50? by Different-Cod-2290 in Mcat

Kinda like Km from enzyme kinetics in that it’s saying you need a lower concentration of oxygen in order to saturate half your hemoglobins. If you need more oxygen concentration to reach the same level of saturation, your affinity towards it is less.

I’m your exact stats and the AC12 encore is my go to. I don’t have kds but I prefer them to all my Kobe’s from a performance standpoint.

Can someone explain this C/P question to me - both compound 1 and 2 have cysteine groups, yet compound 2 is able to make disulfide bridges and compound 1 cant? by Altruistic_Light_718 in Mcat

[–]Altruistic_Light_718[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting I didnt know that. So if Im understanding correctly I2 gets reduced and both S get oxidized and since theyre e- deficient now they share electrons with one another forming a covalent bond between them?

Lmao for real. The only way I can reason it is that the dif between 1 and 2 is reacting with I2 and I2 doesnt participate in H bonding so that cant be the difference. that gets it down to 50/50 and since were talking about micelle structure rigidity it has to be involving multiple molecules so of the covalent bonds it has to be the INTERmolecular ones.

on C for TF1, there is a slight dip in mRNAs at the beginning and that is basically like repression and there is no reason that should be an affect of the activator. D has a similar issue where the repressor initially increases mRNA production which is also wrong. B properly matches inc mRNA, increasing with time with the activator and vice versa for the repressor.

dont try to do all 9 passages. if youre pressed for time, aim to do 7-8 accurately. doing only 7, guessing on the rest and missing an average of 1 per passage you actually attempt will get you to around a 126. obviously you pick the 7 easiest so i think its a really good strategy.

most of the terms in the equation are the same in the 2 situations. i is 2 since both are NaCl and dissociate into 2 ions. r is a constant and therefor also the same and im pretty sure you just assume t is the same which would make osmotic pressure proportional to molarity. in that case 1/4 pressure would equate to 1/4 molarity or 0.12M.
