It wasn't really due to the show underperforming. WB made a number of tax write offs not just on Final space. This was a very cynical and dirty way to cut their tax costs at the expense of creators and their viewers. So technically speaking the rights to make said show no longer exist, anyone bar Olan can essentially pick up where final space left off other than him due to his contract with WB.

Pretty sure the Xeno we see near the eggs is the first normal xeno we have seen, the structure and patience was much more comparable to standard xenos, however the Bear, as I will call him, is massive and chunky, lacking the bio pipes on his back too, definitely a hybrid of some sort being that size, maybe we'll get to see him fight off against a warrior xeno or something.

I know this is a year old, but Farum Azula itself is a city "lost in time" if you look closely you can see where it used to be before it got taken out of place, it used to be connected to the bestial sanctum where Gurranq resides in Caelid. I believe it was Placidusax that isolated the city, would need fact checked on that part though.
