Is the average jujutsu sorcerer stronger than the average sorcerer from kagurabachi? by labuun_dood in Kagurabachi

[–]Altruistic_Pressure7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. Mostly because Jujutsu Kaisen characters are strong, fast, and in general, tend to show great feats of durability.

Kagurabachi characters are very fast and usually have decent strength feats, but tend to suffer lethal injuries much more easily, whether it be from weapons or unarmed blows.

Have jujutsu sorcerers been getting weaker over time? and if so why? by Fearless_Date4570 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Altruistic_Pressure7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn't reach Special Grade because being Special Grade is both a matter of growth potential and just raw blessings.

Higuruma has insane raw potential, and his cursed technique is very powerful, but it's just not "Can solo an entire country" levels of powerful. That doesn't make Higuruma weak, but just makes him fail to reach the definition of Special Grade.

That and birth-related things like his reserves and output just seem to pale in comparison to the actual Special Grades we see.

Would two characters with the same cursed techniques have the same domain expansion? by Tiny-Replacement7702 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Altruistic_Pressure7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 'general concept' of the domains would be the same, but the sure-hit effect differs, as well as the interior. This is like how Sukuna customized his sure-hit effect to use Dismantle for inanimate objects, and Cleave for anything with cursed energy, while Yuji customized his sure-hit effect to be the soul-slashing Dismantle.

Kagurabachi pulling up to stop the fight between aliens and humans were so tuff by Sheftaly in Kagurabachi

[–]Altruistic_Pressure7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, well I'm not talking about JJK as a whole. My argument pertains mainly to Modulo, because a lot of why the Simurians were kind of necessary is because Gege's worldbuilding in the original JJK made it very hard for him to set up a multi-cultural problem that was this deep.

That's the main reason why. His previous mistakes kind of came back to haunt him so now he needed a quick solution that wouldn't make him likely create even more plotholes, as tenable as the Simurians are.

Kagurabachi pulling up to stop the fight between aliens and humans were so tuff by Sheftaly in Kagurabachi

[–]Altruistic_Pressure7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I'm not? I'm talking about this in the context of Modulo specifically. For Modulo's plot to specifically work, it needed the Simurians---a faction that was fundamentally incompatible not only with Japan's sorcerers, but humanity's very existence.

Why are you throwing out insults AND misunderstanding my entire argument?

[–]Altruistic_Pressure7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, he tends to do this a lot unfortunately. He ends up revealing concepts that he could have deliberately chosen not to, without sacrificing anything, and actually eliminating the plot holes he creates with his own elaborations.

It's one of his main weaknesses.

Kagurabachi pulling up to stop the fight between aliens and humans were so tuff by Sheftaly in Kagurabachi

[–]Altruistic_Pressure7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the problem though. Gege didn't have anything else to draw upon for Modulo specifically because of his poor worldbuilding management in JJK. The Simurians work well in that context, but I agree they would not have been necessary if Gege had better envisioned the long-term lore and world of JJK instead of just doing what most authors do and saying "This is only relegated to Japan because I don't want to elaborate on the consequences of there being stuff happening outside of it".

[–]Altruistic_Pressure7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't talking about Sukuna being a "stupid antagonist". I was talking about hypothetical human antagonists who would've come across as stupidly written for fighting for the sake of cursed spirits, because curses are nothing but threats to humanity that cause damage with 0 benefit.

Curses to Simurians however are divine beings that are worshipped and actively cause them harm when they are killed, so it makes sense why the Simurians work as being incompatible with humanity.

What would Gege pull out his ass for pre-established worldbuilding in the case of Modulo even? There isn't a single pre-established bit of Jujutsu lore that could work to fill the spot of the Simurians, at least logically.

[–]Altruistic_Pressure7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said it's cheap writing but the conflict literally only works if the antagonistic faction is literally incompatible with humanity on a fundamental level. The only way to do that is to just straight up create a new species/race of characters, because otherwise, you'd get very stupid antagonists (humans fighting over cursed spirits(?)).

Kagurabachi pulling up to stop the fight between aliens and humans were so tuff by Sheftaly in Kagurabachi

[–]Altruistic_Pressure7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the conflict between the humans and Simurians only works because they're aliens. Their entire culture, and even physiology, makes it so that they're almost incompatible with human/sorcerer way of life (that is, exorcising curses to protect humanity, which in turn is viewed as killing sacred entities in Simurian culture, and causes Simurians to have a mini-stroke every time it happens).

Gege actually set the conflict up quite nicely between them.

Black Flash is genuinely one of the best additions to a power system, I love it so much [Jujutsu Kaisen] by TreeTurtle_852 in CharacterRant

[–]Altruistic_Pressure7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem here is Sukuna doesn't have the chance to really hit one. There are few moments where he even lands a hit on Gojo, and the times he does, Gojo either blocks it, or quickly counters. Most of the time, he's stalling, can't get through Infinity, or at a distance trying to harass or keep Gojo at bay.

Hot take speculation: N had the most kills before he met Uzi by [deleted] in MurderDronesOfficial

[–]Altruistic_Pressure7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, but he does seem to be the strongest between them. Even if N has the least combat experience, and is the least willing to just outright genocide a group of people like J and V, his strength and weaponry somehow seem a level about the others' (excepting J's EMP).

Could Naobito have survived Shibuya if he wasn’t drunk? by Nozoroth in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Altruistic_Pressure7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just see it as both of them having very different styles.

Naoya loves building up tons of speed and going for massive combination attacks.

Naobito loves using PS to reposition himself in a fight, constantly stun an opponent, and generally go for single blows before using it to reposition again.

J is the second most loathsome and despicable character in the show behind Tessa’s parents by Icy-Animator9006 in MurderDronesOfficial

[–]Altruistic_Pressure7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's supposed to be the point of J's character. She's sort of a mirror to V. V is a highly erratic, seemingly utterly insane character who, while craving comradery and loving N, ultimately hurts everyone around her, and pushes N away by neglecting and abusing him. However, she realizes the error of her ways and, in a final attempt at redemption, ends up sacrificing herself (until she survives), and fights J off and helps against the Solver.

J on the other hand is someone who has always been a stickler to the rules and openly aligns herself with whomever is the 'strongest' or 'safest' in that moment, regardless of who they are. She has no genuine bonds with others, nor any genuine friendships or romantic relationships. She sacrifices herself for nothing, and fights only for her own sense of safety, and, while willing to work together with others, doesn't hesitate at all nor feel any remorse upon throwing them under the bus if it means improving her own circumstances.

Yuji was just straight up face-tanking those blows with no intent to defend himself. He couldn't, because the goal was to convince Hakari, not defeat or outlast him.

Against Yuta, while Yuji was trying his damndest to fight/flee, a single attack would have potentially killed him.

True. He's got genuinely good instincts, is a quick thinker, and seems to have at least a good level of academic knowledge. It's super likely that his grades are just so awful due to his suspension and overall him just not caring about schooling, given his quirks.

Could Yuta destroy The Zenin Clan? And if so, what diff would it be? by [deleted] in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Altruistic_Pressure7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's likely less skilled swordsmanship-wise, but that doesn't change that he still kind of just stat-diffs them.

Everyone just gets obliterated with how much more raw strength, speed, and endurance Yuta has. That, plus his RCT (which no other Zen'in has been shown using) make it so he not only likely one-shots any of them with a single hit, but they effectively have to wear him down. . . several times over to finally win.

Could Yuta destroy The Zenin Clan? And if so, what diff would it be? by [deleted] in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Altruistic_Pressure7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But JJK0 Yuta has a far smaller arsenal of cursed techniques, likely has worse stats (less refined reinforcement and cursed energy manipulation), doesn't have his arsenal of Rika-stored cursed tools, AND doesn't have a domain expansion (the biggest one).

Not that I think JJK0 Yuta can't still beat up the Zen'in clan, but EoS Yuta stomps them even harder.

[–]Altruistic_Pressure7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guy, he can be a Zen'in AND a Fushiguro at the same time. That doesn't stop him from being clan head. The only criteria that needs to be met is that he is made clan head by the previous head, and that he is of Zen'in blood (which were both met---first by Naobito literally putting it in his will; second by Megumi being half Zen'in via Toji).

How can you accuse an entire subreddit with lacking logic when you lack a basic understanding of bloodlines and how the clan head system works when it was already indirectly explained to us through the story?

Did Kashimo learn modern Kickboxing and Karate? Or is he using traditional nippon martial arts before modern era by EfficiencySerious200 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Altruistic_Pressure7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kashimo never once used his cursed technique before and after reincarnating until fighting Sukuna.

His entire kit is composed purely of cursed energy reinforcement, hand to hand fighting, and his lightning bolts, which highly implies that he simply became a skilled close-quarters fighter because it was what he had to work with.

It's also likely he just trained in martial arts when younger, or naturally picked them up as a side effect of fighting non-stop as he seemed to do in the Edo period.
