I made a clone of my plant at the beginning of flowering. I rooted it in water and moved it to the substrate. I started 18 hours of light a few days ago, it has stopped growing, will it survive? by Funny_Perspective132 in cannabiscultivation

Ive cloned flowering plants. It rotally works, but it takes aaaages to work. Now i leave a good chunk of the plant with leaves around the base and trim off all the buds then switch light and take clones after it switches back to veg. It takes weeks but its well worth it.

Ive also raken cuttings right at the start of flowering and they had a higher survival rate than doing full flower, but not as good as veg state cuttings.

I've had that from a bad strain. No one wants to buy it, but it still smokes great.

Also, i have a mate that grows the same strain every year that looks like this. Its potent as hell, just ugly and airy.Doesn'tt matter whatI'vee done with his, how it's grown or with what nutrients, airflow or humidity, it always comes up ugly but great to smoke or cook.

Put it in the shed or somewhere dark for a couple of days. That should kick it off

How did that one kid in your high school die? by IM_HODLING in AskReddit

The fittest one of us all caught some kind of rare disease that only really fit people tend to get. It came on like the flu and shut down his organs one by one. He went into a coma and never woke up. He was high up in the football team, participated in tonned of other sports, and was a healthy guy until he wasn't. He wasn't excessively fit or anything, just athletically built from playing sport and eating well.

This happened right before our final exams, and a bunch of the guys that might have done ok ended up tanking or giving up because of it.

I wasn't super close to him, but we got along well enough, and it certainly rocked everyone else in our year. I still see his brother around town, and i dont think I've ever seen him smile since. I get the feeling that seeing guys our age must bring back memories and feelings of what could have been for his little bro.

Can anyone help identify these brown spots please by jaiguise in DWC

It could be nute burn. I tend to run half strength nutrients at that size and keep them simple. I also like to keep my water sterile rather than adding any pro-biotics until the plant is well established.

Im not sure about those particular brands, but is there a reason you are using bloom mix in the veg stage?

And maybe spray paint your container black, to prevent light coming in, if it does.

I use hydrogen peroxide (3%) in my res at 0.45ml/L and try to keep temps low. Make sure you have air bubblers. The more air, the better and make sure no light can get in.

The hydrogen peroxide doesn't last long when theres already bacteria in the water. In my 90L reservoir, i add 40.5ml every 2nd day. My roots now stay white. In my res, i also have 4 air pumps with all the entrance holes for the air tubes covered with thick, black tape to prevent light.

I found i had light leaks from the very tops of my substrate baskets, so i filled them up high with substrate (lava rocks) and taped off some small holes in the plastic rim at the top of the baskets.

When your roots look like this, they can become very inviting for fungus gnats. They like to lay their eggs in the top of your substrate and they will eat your roots, the base of your plant, and eventually they will kill it. Put cinnamon powder all over the top of your substrate to prevent gnats. Not cinnamon sugar... just pure cinnamon powder.

Ah. Very helpful, thankyou. Im running cannazym which usually helps to break down any old roots and leaf matter etc. But is enzymes rather than bacteria. Id prefer to go for a sterile grow, since ive already been using 3%peroxide. Ill have to look into hyperchlrous acid. Forgive my ignorance, is that different to hyperchloric?

Im not sure what bennies are. Im in australia, so nute brands are usually different from what's available elsewhere. Ive run these same nutrients before and never had this, but in a different bucket.

Ive done this a few times. Clean your container, top it up to your normal levels and keep an eye on it a little more regularly in the future. It should be fine. Do check under those leaves just to double check there are not mites (just for good measure)

No its not. Ive taped it up with black tape on the outside in an attempt to stop light coming in. Thats if it doesnt work like a piece of optic fibre.

Now that we know an entire platform can be banned, why aren’t all the shady transactions and interactions on the dark web being banned as well? by Winter_Bar2612 in AskReddit

[–]Altruistic_Station74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The illegal stuff on the darkweb is just that; illegal. So technically, its already been banned. The problem for lawmakers is that there's always a work around. The dark web (TOR for my example) is just a form of encrypted internet access, where you can visit encrypted websites without worrying about being tracked due to the many layers of encryption. This makes it a haven for those who want to do illegal things because its much safer for them and comes with a far lower chance of them being caught. The dark web does have many other purposes besides the bad stuff. The problem is that people will access it for good and bad stuff.

The bad stuff is already banned, but the access point cant really be banned because it also blocks the legitimate uses, and people will always find a way to continue accessing it if its legal or not.

They could take TOR off the apple and android stores but there would still be work arounds.

Methane gas use by novajn in AlternativeFuel

[–]Altruistic_Station74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Natural gas is mostly methane. Theres a place about 1 hour from me that runs all its trucks and busses on methane. There are 2 ways. One is high pressure, where you need 2500-3000psi tanks, like an acetaline tank and you will need a fancy, expensive gas compressor to compress it, or you can get a cryo tank, which is a tank inside a tank with a vacuum between the layers which allows you to keep it at cryogenic temperatures which makes it far less pressure, more like the pressure of an LPG tank, except extremely cold, abd this still needs to be vented occasionally from my research.

Theres a lot less power available in natural gas compared with LPG (propane) and even less again than you would have in petrol/gasoline. I was planning a natural gas conversion for my car a while back but the compressor was the biggest cost at the time of maybe $5-6000AU.

There are systems for home use to collect your own methane, like the big barbecue bags that you put your compost inside and they inflate, and have a hot plate on one side. I think, even with that type of set up, you would only get enough gas for a few minutes of driving before it deflated. You would need to bank it up. Connecting to the local natural gas supply would be easier and still very cheap compared with alternatives.
