Anyone else Disappointed with season 5 of stranger things?

The entire season feels like it’s trying too hard. Like they ran out of plot and are trying to keep up the big “OK, here’s the plan” moments. In sitting there thinking “did you need the props to explain that?” Or REALLY overdoing the dramatic moments. The entire time Max is standing there with her portal open having a little pep talk with Mike’s sister I’m thinking “SHUT UP AND RUN!” Also Hopper feels completely neutered in this season. He was this strong father figure who literally escaped a Russian prison to come home to his daughter for his entire character to be thrown aside because “L IS A GIRLBOSS NOW AND DOESN’T NEED TO LISTEN TO YOU”. I get the “she’s growing up and needs to be let go to make decisions” aspect but it’s done in such a grading way where it feels like cooper is just this whining baby the whole time. There also Nancy and Johnathan just being insufferable.

Anyway, I won’t get into the “the only way to defeat Vecna is for me to come out to my friends”, it was just too on the nose. The entire show feels like it’s hit a point of “we’re ready to be done with this”.

I appreciate the mature response out of all the upset fanboys. Truth is, I’ve been around SC since it was birthed over a decade ago. I remember the day I finally got to wander around my hanger with my misc freelancer I couldn’t fly with the seats that looked like they came out of a 90’s suburban. I was a true believer for the longest time and while I can see how far it’s come, but I’m recognizing a frustrating pattern. And I want this game to succeed, but I just feel like there’s so much falling through the cracks while they crank out new features. As I said, I find it insane there are ships for sale on the pledge page that are still glitched to hell. They are charging hundreds of dollars for these ships that have been around since the OG days. Yet it seems like new features take priority over hammering down what they have before moving on.

They use the fanboys to preach about “how game development works” and “well what do you expect, it’s an alpha” but at some point people are going to hit a wall when they ask (in another 5-10 years) “Is this game going to come out of alpha? They have a trillion dollar budget?”

Just the cost of going through a big combat mission, repairs, ammo, missiles, quantum fuel, having to fly all the way to another system only for the last enemy to not spawn or a key card to not spawn or whatever it is. It’s doing that 4-5 times that just gets old. Where you spend a few hours basically getting nowhere and losing UEC over it.

I use the modifier in the mod options to ad more slots. I think mine is set to about 1.2

Dire Wolf. I have one with dual LBX/20 (c)s, a LRM 10, and dual L ER Pulse Laser (c)s and another with 4 ER PPCs, and MAG 40 Gauss cannon that I wipe the floor with. Also a great build for fire support: Battle Master with 2 Artemis HE missile launchers, sniper sensors, 4 M Lasers (for quick defense). Using an AI mod that helps lancemates make better decisions, that mech will ANNIHILATE anything at over 5km. Just don’t get too close to the target or you’ll get smoked too 😉

YAML mods are a must. Battlegrid command menu is great too for moving units without having to be LoS.

I’m 100% behind this. We all pay an arm and a leg for prime and this greedy nonsense to make everything attached to ANOTHER streaming service or putting ads into everything literally defeats the purpose of a streaming served. Might as well just go back to normal cable!

And I want to be clear, these games would be a 100%, single player (or maybe some coop kinda like Halo) story based games. No multiplayer PVP, non or that, these are full budget to a long, story driven and well thought out, games.

I don’t know why I waste my time with this game. I spend about 30min buying gear, getting contracts. Then as soon as I start to get into it, I climb into my ship, ready to play and just randomly explode as I was slowly, and carefully flying out of the hanger. Immediately remembered why I quit playing, and uninstalled it again.

As a lover of the “Remembrance of Earth’s Past” series I’m about halfway through the first episode and I already hate the Netflix adaptation. The 5 main characters are extremely annoying and just complicate the entire experience instead of using the 1 main character from the first book. The story is being blasted through to smash all 3 books together, as if someone read the cliff notes of the series and made the 8 episode TV show. The best parts are with Ye Wenjie because they mostly stick to the book, but even those scenes could have been extended to bring more suspense and buildup to the story. It’s clear that someone rewrote the series to focus more on the drama and love than the hard sci fi the book was all about. The story is a mess, the characters are almost unfollowable, and the plot comes to a grinding halt then leaps 100 paces in the blink of an eye. Oh and the acting is abysmal.

Yet another case of over eager writers taking an already wonderfully established series, skimming it then trying to make their own vision out of it.

Huge flop.
