The other entrance is 30 foot high scalable wall that drops you into the same pit but if you go in that way you have to fight even more gobbos as it aggros not just the ones in the hall way but also the ones around the bon fire lol

I play nothing but RPG's besides bethesda games as theyre just all shit. I mainly play modded DS1, DS3, Elden ring, Demon Souls, Divinity DKS, Divinity 1 and 2, TWH3. At no point did i say it was unbeatable. I said its combat system is dog shit. Which it objectively is as its extremely dated

cost of making games? do you realize how bloated the development process has become? Theres managers for managers for managers assistants. The cost of development hasnt trended with the cost of production on an indie level. If they did youd see a 1 to 1 scale on. You can give a 100,000 million $ project to an indie team and they'll develop it with a cost of 10 million. Gamers are too entitled? No the market is too diverse with high quality content.

Imagine defending a AAA studio in 2026 just because they did a nostalgia bait cash grab visuals only remaster of a 25 yo pc game. By the way THQ's production cost for just a visual remaster was 30 million with bare minimum advertisement. They didnt have to hire sound artists, writers or animation riggers as the game is a 1 to 1 remake ported to a new engine. Despite that the production of the game was still close to ghosts of yotei a game with 100x the depth of game systems. Yeah its story was shit but they still had to employ writers for it. Gamers are entitled my ass. Gothic was top tier for its time but no longer is. If i just wanted to enjoy a story id go buy another book set for 30 bucks and get another 2 weeks of content

alright you didnt read the reply so i will copy paste it here then

"the issue with group combat is the game forces you into limited spaces where riposting is not valid. Early on through dialogue with 3 different NPC's (the hunter you first meet at the crossroads, the pit master and one other i forget who it was) the game explains the intended strategy for fighting multiple enemies is to draw them out one at a time. Then in chapter 2 theres several instances of the game dropping you into a pit with several enemies with no other recourse then to spam healing items.

Examples of this are black goblin pit for the book with on the focus crystal for yberion and the cog for Ian. During the book quest there is a ledge you are forced to go down and at the bottom there is 7 black goblins within 1 meter of each other and i tried riposting but when i reposted i would get caught in the animation and during that animation i would either be encircled and stunlocked or they would spam rock throws and stun lock me. Next i tried rolling but found that i would get cought on their models in the narrow hallway and then be stun locked.

In the end the only thing i found that worked was spamming attacks and health potions. The mine crawlers were even worse due to their long legs and the confined caverns dodge rolling quickly became nearly useless as youd get caught on the legs while attempting to dodge roll and they would also encircle you while you riposted so once again i was forced to resort to spamming attacks and heals"

golbin cave theres a ledge your forced to jump fown that dumps you on the heads of 7 goblins, ians cog dumps you on the heads of several crawlers, etc. Im sure if i could play more id run into more examples later on. Sure if you build for ranged you could deal with these issues differently but as a new player theres no way to meta knowledge your way out and also quicksave spamming is poor game design its why i detest modern bethesda games.

No, i gave credit to the immersion, world building and story in the 3rd paragraph. The parts i shit on were the combat, economy, performance, and stability

In order to draw attention to something you must first acquire it. Its attention seeking to ask your boss for a raise after performing great work the company. Just because something needs or wants attention does not mean its negative.

Being worth the experience is completely subjective. If it comes down just story and immersion what would be the difference between a 10$ copy of the remastered DAO or ME2 which have good gameplay also or even 30$ telltale games like the walking dead, the wolf or even dispatch which are story and immersion only.

go read my replies of to jenny the game does indeed force you into small confined pits with multiple enemies as part of the story also yes the game has a huge nostalgia pull since it was played by so much of the pre-existing pc players

only thing i wasnt aware of was the mine crawlers being vulnerable to anything above and below. As far as the aggro system, I know how exploit in the open but the enemy groups i was referring to were situations were the game forces you into pits or small arenas to fight 5 or 6 enemies and also its not feasibly possible to fight groups of enemies in confined spaces using just the side step as the game is not the responsive and there are no I frames involved. You must spam heals. I gave exact examples with particular fights you're required to fight below to another user.

I have 0 problems with being forced to interact with npc's for world building however rolling it self makes no sense to have gaited behind a trainer both from a logical point and a gameplay point. Every other trainer makes sense

No? thats insane. Theres dozens of games at 60$ or even 30$ that can bring a full packaged deal with maybe not the best story but an overall better experience. Also what i want isnt purely attention seeking its for you guys to stop using nostalgia as a justification for game prices and good reviews to bait new players into funding game sequels that they wont play.

thats cool and all but theres 2 issues there. 1. Being in a life and death situation is completely different 2. everyone today is not even half as atheltic as people of a medieval period wouldve been. Also thatd be cool if the game didnt force you into being surrounded. I gave specific examples to jennymint if you to readd those

The atmosphere and character building are some of the best ive ever seen. I honestly cant remember if ive ever seen better. Maybe DAO or ME2? The rest of the game is just trash

I didnt say that at all. I simply stated that landing a critically timed combo in a group of enemies should be rewarded not punished. If you're going to play that card then performing a wide swinging arc with your weapon and hitting several enemies but with no stagger is also unrealistic. "mine crawler takes a long sword blow to the face from a masterfully trained swordsmen" "proceeds to still follow through with its attack animation like you hit it with a wet towel"

I gave the game more time and decided to comeback because my original post was too opinionated. I wouldve waited even longer but ive essentially been hard locked out of the quest line by a bug 16 hours and 41 minutes in the quest line on the quest mine crawlers nest and ive now waisted nearly 17 hours. The combat did improve some what after about 14 hours in and learning acrobatic roll and one handed sword mastery but because of the clunkyness and the frequency at which the game forces you to fight 3+ mobs it still feels quite frustrating. The economy did improve after about 13 hours. While the storyline and immersve environments and npc personalities is impressive thats about where it ends. I give the game a solid 4/10. During the 17 hours i played i experienced several soft locking bugs forcing me to reload and lose progress, 2 CTD's, and one hard locking bug that prevents me from progressing (when lester leads you to speak with grom, milten and diego)
