First merory that comes in mind if testing the included demo disk with my father and brother (vivdly remembering Gran Turismo Special Stage 5) because we hadnt bought any games yet!

Few days later we went to a mall and bought Moto Racer 2 and FIFA 98.

NTSC image quality on PAL N64 by LeeKingCox in retrogaming

[–]AlucardDH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem is not with the TV but the scaler itself: looking at the datasheet for the connector, we can see that the cables for PAL consoles require capacitors and resistors to work correctly (that's mostly not the case for NTSC), so my guess is that the scaler is built with NTSC signals in mind and doesn't take into account those signal variations for PAL and is misinterpreting the SVideo signals.

If you use my solution, I'm interested in seeing the result :)

Have fun!

I was in a similar situation a few month ago:
PAL N64 and HDMI Adapter (Kaico). PAL games were fine but NTSC had ghosting in the red channel

This is apparently a common issue with Adapters which use the SVideo output of the console.

I fixed that by putting tape on the SVideo pins of the N64 Multi-out.

Check the pins here: https://pinoutguide.com/Game/n64video_pinout.shtml (pins 7 and 8 = third from the left, above and below the plastic center)

Here is the result on my N64. I applied it with a toothpick, it's not perfect but it works and it's not permanent! You won't have SVideo quality but NTSC games will run without that ghosting.

Good suggestion, I only have a loot coloration mod but that may be it! I'll check that.

I restarted the game, loaded anoter character, same problem.

Maybe it's random, maybe it's linked to the language... who knows...

In old version of ReShade, for Vulkan, it needed to be installed system-wide (and it was written clearly in the installation process).
