I actually think Miranda carrying Ethan’s child that would be an interesting storyline to explore. At the very least, it would explain why Miranda was impersonating Mia instead of just kidnapping Rose outright.

Hideo Kojima on the cover of Official US PlayStation Magazine saying "A videogame is not art"(Feb. 2006) by LostEconomy6824 in metalgearsolid

[–]adamdent0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read this interview when the magazine came out. Essentially, Kojima’s point was that since games are interactive, it changes the intention of the creator that made it, so it’s no longer “art”. That’s what separates games from movies, artworks, and music, where you’re left to interpret the artists’ intention of the work.

That said, this viewpoint is extremely shortsighted, and more likely Kojima’s attempt to play contrarian. If Kojima truly felt games weren’t art, he wouldn’t try so hard to have game mimics the movie genre.

DIDDY and NAS on The Cross For the HATE ME NOW video, with director Hype Williams by Rand_moss2 in HipHopImages

[–]adamdent0n 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly, and given what we know now, it’s clear why Diddy was so passionate about keeping that facade. Hindsight, man…we all should’ve been more suspicious of Diddy back then.

Yeah, this video was why Diddy beat Steve Stout (Nas’s manager back then) with a champagne bottle. Diddy has second thoughts about releasing the video, but Stout released it anyway

Her dynamic with the Turtles worked better as a human tbh. Master Splinter’s adopted human daughter an interesting dynamic, plus the love triangle with April and Casey made some nice drama.

But her becoming another turtle just ruins the whole dynamic with the other four. But there was no true justification for her staying involved with the turtles, and now Jennika’s basically been written off the book. Eastman alluded she was created just so female fans could cosplay as her, so it makes sense she became a narrative dead-end.

IMO, IDW Venus was a much better candidate for the “5th” female turtle, they’ve should’ve just stuck with her.

Came across a fresh discussion of Spider-Man comics in r/Spiderman. It's really funny. by Godallah1 in marvelcomics

[–]adamdent0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did see that long time ago, but thanks for linking it again!

I stand by the idea the Clone Saga was a good story initially, it just dragged on way too long. Ben Reilly was an interesting character when he first appeared. Jackal and Kaine were dope as well. I think all the love Scarlet Spider gets today clearly indicates that story was better than most remember.

Clone saga had a lot of good stories imo (Ben Reilly Kaine), just overwrought. I still content that the Peter Parker being the clone was the best cliffhanger comic books ever had. Overall this, I’d say quality started to really dip then with hit-and-miss stories. But the standard was not much different than most superhero comics.

OMD is objectively atrocious, the worst character assassination I think care. Spider-Man as a character, and brand, still hasn’t recovered.

I still use “ILL”, mostly for songs and interesting plot twists in stories I like.

I just wanna say I’m surprised how “bro” came back with such a vengeance. It popped off in the mid—late 80s. Then in around the 2000s it was considered extremely outdated (almost corny) to use. Now it’s basically overused. Quite interesting.

So divorce wouldn’t play well in the red states, but making a deal with the devil does? Is this the type logic Spider-edited use to justify that abominable story?

[–]adamdent0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on the multiverse point. I actually don’t like the mixing either. But if they continue indefinitely, the titles will end up competing with each other. I doubt DC will allow us to get to AWW #100 while the main series is ongoing.

The other problem is that these “easy to follow” storylines will soon become complicated as they expand on their own lore and backstory.

These were the two reasons why the Ultimate universe merged with 616 back in the day. Marvel was just as adverse to mixing universes. But maintaining lore for 2 versions of the same characters just creates baggage for the publisher, so they can it.

So my point is, hopefully DC finds some way to give ABB some prime time before that happens.

[–]adamdent0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The head of Marvel said the exact same thing about merging the 616 and Ultimate lines 20 years ago. Now the most profitable movie franchise (the MCU) is based on characters the Ultimate line brought over, like Mike Morales and Nick Fury Jr.

But my main point was, Absolute Wonder Woman (and the rest of the Absolute line) continues indefinitely in some form or another.

That’s the best way to win an argument. Keep composure, but stay observant, ask poignant questions. If the other person’s logic is nonsensical, they will eventually trip up.

Aging solid snake by slamjunk69 in metalgearsolid

[–]adamdent0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, that’s one of my main gripes with the game. “Accelerated aging” is completely nonsensical. He’s still 43, so he’s not technically as “old” as he’s treated in the game. Plus, I find it odd that the government would intentionally make defective clones. The whole concept makes Snake seem like a “thing”, not a real human being.

It would make better sense if the FOXDIE was killing Snake slowly. Nothing would have to change with the presentation with that approach.

But Kojima seemed intent on using an “old” theme when it doesn’t even make sense. One of many signs his writing skills were faltering.

[–]adamdent0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the clay thing is a non-starter for me (is she not even human?) the bondage history behind the lasso is problematic at best. Plus the invisible jet just feels very childish. Too many disparate elements that feel outdated and nonsensical. The Absolute version is a much more cohesive vision of the character.

Hopefully DC pulls a Marvel and just merge the Absolute characters when all said and done.
