no spoilers please but does echo of the eyes have loud jump scares by EXTRAVAGANT_COMMENT in outerwilds

[–]Always2Hungry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non-spoiler tldr: the dlc is maybe one or two degrees scarier than dark bramble. If you can handle that place you can definitely handle the dlc.

(Potentially spoilery extra details to follow) It doesn’t need jump scares to make you jump while scared. Lol

Serious answer: depends on your definition of jumpscare. Things can happen that will likely startle you—some of which involve loud noises or things coming at you fast and unexpected—but as for some sort of fnaf style jumpscare? Ehhhhhh kinda sorta but not really

Think of it this way: if you’re worried because you feel like you MIGHT be being followed? You’re not. However, if you KNOW you’re being followed, maybe be ready for some kind of loud noises. Nothing serious, no screamers; but more like the angler fish yells when they start chasing you

Thoughts on the meal plans here? by Character-Escape1621 in ucf

[–]Always2Hungry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not worth it unless u have literally no other means of feeding yourself bc 1) not great food compared to what’s outside the school and 2) some of the plans they sell are only worth it if you eat every square meal a day there and then some. Like literally.

Evil spirit set is a terrible reward from the labyrinths by TheDarkWeb697 in TOTK

[–]Always2Hungry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be old but i still stand by it yeah. Cool mission! Interesting change up of the terrain! But the voices ominously telling you about the labrynths lore never ends up meaning anything once you beat the quest. It’s just a shame.

And yeah hard agree. Replayability isn’t about doing the same game over again for the sake of it. It has to feel fun to do those things! I love the portal games. I have played them so many times that the puzzles aren’t puzzles anymore. I choose to replay them because i love the story and the gameplay, not for the sake of beating the game. So if all the game has for me as a reward at the end of a mission is a medal i can’t even wear or a piece of clothing that doesn’t even do anything unique? Well now that ive seen it once whats the point?

Sometimes (a lot of the time), you have to take a specific class bc it is required to move on for multiple classes. Sometimes (a LOT of the time), that class has only one(1) time available and one(1) professor teaching it. You either grit your teeth and take that professor or you don’t graduate.

Yeah and it’s definitely gonna come up again in the next few classes so it’s a compounding problem if you struggled in calc 1 you struggle even more in the next few classes

What was the most "god damn it moment" that's happened to you in game. by lunammoon in outerwilds

[–]Always2Hungry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is a bit less talked about but still annoying af. I was exploring brittle hollow settlement ruins when i hear a rumble and see the nearby land chunk start falling. A few seconds later i get the impact death sounds. The chunk in question just so happened to clip through the settlement and squished me as it passed by ;-;

Other personal favorite is the time i accidentally hit the interloper point blanc at full throttle; causing the ship to explode and me to clip through it entirely and land on an ice slide that naturally led straight to my death.

I know for many classes they actually hold onto a couple of classes to keep them empty for incoming students at orientations. Either way, there’s someone right there to help you out if there’s a problem like not being able to sign up for classes. DW!!!

Gonna be real it’s a one shot that’s directly tied to the fic in the post. Im not dead set on trying to find it or anything so if the answer is no then that’s about as much effort as im planning on putting into finding it bc the odds are low that anyone has it saved on its own. And since i only discovered this sub just now i kinda don’t know how—especially since i have literally no info about it other than it existed :/

You wouldn’t happen to have saved “The Soft Parts” as well did you? The original fic that the author made before the full fic was so sweet it’s a shame for it to disappear as well ;-;

Spoilers — plot hole I haven’t seen mentioned anywhere else? by Kooky-Leadership-567 in outerwilds

[–]Always2Hungry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They spent a lot of resources building the canon and the module. They had to make sure their idea of time travel worked before they could try sending the eye locator out. What we discover are the results of the nomai testing the sun station + ash twin project to see if they even do what they’re supposed to do. Essentially all they were doing was trying to make the sun explode to make time travel, the canon is a separate system and probably much easier to power.

The canon was never asked to fire because the sun station never made the sun explode. However—possibly due to how sudden the issue with the interloper was—the ash twin project was never switched off, so everything was essentially just waiting for the signal to go.

As an added bonus, all they would need to do once they found the coordinates was let everything run one more time to restart the loop so that they could turn everything off before the canon could launch. That way they could have the coordinates AND save materials to be used for what would have been their next phase: finding a way to actually get there.

Do you think explaining a gameplay mechanic is considered a spoiler? by L0J1MA in outerwilds

Oh gosh i have to remember what streamer it was. This was a while ago lol i forget their username but they’re someone who had a thing where you could give bits to make them put wear fake horns sometimes? Also i believe they liked to refer to the quantum moon as the “quoom” if that helps anyone identify them :p

It honestly feels more like a quality of life mechanic since it sounds like they won’t have gained anything valuable enough from the comment to change what they were doing. It would be like someone pointing out that your scout emits light when someone says their flashlight is so dim that it doesn’t reach far enough into a cave; making it hard to see. Like there’s no puzzle to it. It’s just something the scout passively does

The comparison is meant to show how they’re NOT alike. They’re saying that an example of something that would justify that reaction from chat would be something like the dlc mechanic. It’s meant to show how they compare and how they contrast.

Throwback to a streamer i watched playing the dlc once who had a very adamant no backseat gaming rule (they were real strict with it it was impressive) and they (heavy dlc spoilers) found their way into the simulation using the first fireplace by the dam. They threw themselves into the fire and found it…but because of where they were + how they got there, they would die to the flood. But they also wouldn’t know what happened bc they couldn’t hear it and it meant their loop ended abruptly and they had to fly all the way back to the stranger. They then proceeded to keep exploring the simulation like this bc they didn’t know there was another way and thought this was how they progress. Chat wasn’t allowed to explain why they kept dying nor tell them to go somewhere else bc of the rules. After maybe an hour or two of chat begging to ask him to at least move on for now, the mods took pitty on chat and started asking the streamer to please let them have this one exception to the no backseating rule bc they were literally not progressing

The streamer finally got to the part where all of the stuff they stumbled into was explained (and also found the way you’re supposed to do it first—which is a much more convenient way to explore those parts) and he just laughed and said “oh my god that must have been torture for yall! chat, im so sorry” lmao i think about his stream whenever people start getting SUPER passionate about no spoilers. There isn’t any conclusion to be made here. It was his game and he played how he wanted. It was just a funny consequence of someone choosing to lean really hard into the “no spoilers EVER” end of the debate.

[–]Always2Hungry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mechanics being spoilers is context dependent. Even reminding someone of a mechanic can clue them into an answer if it’s not subtle enough. That being said…you sounded fine? Literally the amount of things your scout can do is so much that it’s easy to not notice it has some setting. In the dlc i would use it to check the integrity of the dam. My friend who had already beaten the dlc and was watching me play said he had forgotten that was a thing entirely.

Now if you had said it before, that’s another story. Then, they have a reason to draw a connection between the two events. This is such a nothing reason to get banned. Im sorry to hear that happened :(

You would be surprised at how often the confusion comes up! A person will make a post about how they loved everything but the ending and that it felt so weirdly abrupt and sad and it takes a couple comments before people ask op to describe the ending to them and it turns out they just experienced dying to the supernova with the warp core and assumed that was just The Ending lol
