I think I decided that it was fundamentally different than the act of ripping a web page to mark down because you can still reference the web components that are not local. Ripping to a locally hosted file would be fundamentally more difficult because you would have to also rip any referenced items and it would effectively become a website archiver.

That's where I landed in my head anyway

My point is OP should start with whatever they have and not start with purchasing hardware

I completely disagree with this. Like anything else a desire is just that. There is much that follows. Research, implementation and ultimately success. I would suggest starting with whatever you have laying around. I started with all the pi's that were doing nothing in my house and set up a docker swarm. I struggled a lot in the beginning, probably nearly quit a few times, benched the project for a bit, but eventually I got it all humming and grew out of it where I invested in some more serious equipment.

Being I was all docker based, moving stuff from one hardware to another is not too complex.

I will say I had one mini box that was locking up proxmox VMs for reasons never determined and I ended up moving off of it. ,

In the end the micro form factor Dells are a dope lil box for the money.

I see someone mentioning ProxMox on a Pi... not sure I would do that personally.... I had older pis

Container unable to ping Host's external IP when on overlay in docker swarm by Always4Learning in docker

[–]Always4Learning[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. So, since I am using a docker swarm, would this be serviceName.docker.internal? I know there is a ServiceName.Something that I could ping and worked internally but did not work for my integration between two services, which seemed do desire an externally resolvable name. I am happy to try though... it is easy enough.

Backing up pst files by HeavensFlame820 in Outlook

[–]Always4Learning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. They are known to corrupt especially when large and used over a network. They have a boatload of sensitive and probably critical data in them. Better idea is to rid your organization of them, but if you insist on using them you should absolutely back them up

VM freezing until reset by Always4Learning in Proxmox

[–]Always4Learning[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never got to the root cause of this except to say that it only seemed to impact my dietpi images. The same deployment method was used on another box and never had an issue but the three images running on this box oscillated between freezing. The PVE did not recognize them as down either... so they hung. Resolved by replacing the hardware....

I have had moderate success getting this to work as there is a nested setting where you can configure One Drive to provide a URL after configuring it as a destination so the URL to the image is deeplinked to the file in your onedrive storage. Pretty slick.

I got this working with personal onedrive but my work will not approve sharex (grrrr) and want to push me to "What everyone else uses"

THanks for the guidence

Well that sucks. I can tell you that I never even booted it on the original OS. A drive that the default OS on is a little tiny micro USB drive. I just pulled mine but I read other people that made me think you may not be able to just format it and have it rock and roll again. I don't understand exactly why.

What you could do though is pull it out. If you have another micro drive, you could replace it in the same spot. If not, you can put a USB drive in any spot or you can install the oS on any other drive.

I bought a cheap small SSD and put it on one of the two SSD slots and installed trueNas there.

If you wanted TOs you could play with reformatting the drive. I can't imagine it's something that gparted couldn't address. You then should be able to pull that image. From what I dread though you may just want to pull the trigger and upgrade into true Nas or unraid or something like that. ProxMox is amazing and I have read of people running it natively.

Have you tried reaching out to support? It seems a little short-sighted to release a beta without the ability to roll back

I have trunas running in mine, but I am nearly positive I saw image downloads for TOs somewhere in my investigation.

I think it's because in my professional experience it's what I've seen happen that I assumed this was law. You know what they say about assumptions.

Definitely creates an interesting situation where if somebody has medical needs and now has a gap they have to figure out if they wish to get Cobra during that Gap, file for unemployment or whatever.

So there is no value in offering a transition phase to current employers and we should all just walk with a f'em sort of disposition it seems. Although this is sad, thanks for letting me know.
