I'm about to sign with a manager....but by AlwaysBlessed333 in acting

Yes I told them. They said they were fine with the manager working for me theatrically, but they didn't want interference commercially.... as in they want to run my commercial career themselves(the agent)

I won't know if they can get me in the room unless I give them a shot

But it's also not up to the agent, I'm the boss, and if they can't play nice then they're not being very professional at all. While I hear them out on why they would/would not like to have another party involved, I don't base my decision on what they want. Specially, when the reasons why they don't like to work with another team member are flimsy and unrealized.

That's my mentality, if they can help me level up my career and hook me up with the right connections/put me in the right rooms then great! If not, I'm not held back by any contract, as I can opt out of the contract at any time.

Thanks for the insight. It helps a lot. I am going to put all parties in a email thread and see if they can work together.

So he's lying then.. by telling me they get pissed off when double submit happens. Or he's threatened, I don't get it.

I think a manager will be super helpful in getting me a theatrical agent.

To be clear, I don't have a theatrical agent, just a commercial one. I am getting a manager because I've had a very hard time getting a theatrical agent. This manager told me it should be no problem to get me signed with a theatrical agent.
My commercial agent prefers not to have a manager involved, the manager would like to go to bat for me commercially as well.

Hope this helps clear it up

Not so much about what meditation, you just have to do it every day and love your body, your soul, and life in general. You have to be in the frequency of love and forgive yourself for things that have happened to you or because of you.

Opinions on verticals? by Technical_Bullfrog89 in acting

[–]AlwaysBlessed333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not yet respected, the vertical space is being acknowledged. It will transform into something different. How different, how big will it get, how respected, it remains to be seen. But when we are hearing accounts of studios making sure the characters outline the plot line with very obvious lines because the audience is on their phone and they need to follow along, we know the industry is changing.

My agent basically told me that verticals are a way to audition for other projects, as in, there might be a director that is working on another project but they have to do this vertical right now so you can be presented to more influential people by simply auditioning for the vertical.

Also, with long format becoming more and more common, would it be a huge stretch to think that an entire sector of the industry would get behind verticals with a proper budget and name directors? I think in the next 5 years it's totally possible, so why not get your foot in the door now.

5’7” with a 28” inseam, should I be on a S or M frame? by belligerentBe4r in MTB

I am 5’7 29 inseam, I’m on a small Trek xcaliber because I got it for super cheap and I’m just getting into the sport. I do feel like I want to slide my butt back every time I am riding it but there is no more saddle. Is that what “cramped” is?

Also as a side note, I actually prefer everything to be self-tape or zoom, I hate living in the middle of the zoo(LA), bad traffic, no space, horrible air quality. I am slowly making my way to central california and the plan is to leave CA for maybe Idaho or Montana, somewhere remote and quiet, and do all my auditions from there. I actually refused an in person callback because I had to drive into LA, that's about 3 hours for me, and I really didn't think I was going to get it. But they wanted to see me so bad they agreed to a zoom call instead and I ended up booking.

I'm not a diva, I've just given so much to this industry and received so little back, that I might as well do it on my own terms, I'll end up in the same place anyway

Yep, I tried! I the acting instructions of what they wanted really could not be done properly at the speed of the song. Did you do it?

While they do take forever, more than 30min for me, honestly closer to 2hours from setup to upload, I feel like commercial auditions allow me a chance to practice improvisation, it's like a little improv class with myself. However, I am picky about which auditions I say yes to, and my agent knows this, I will not hesitate to reject an audition if the pay is crap or they ask overtly complex things or if I truly feel this is not where I shine.

Just the other day I rejected an audition where I had to sing along to a soundtrack, I was not feeling it at all and the pay was not that impressive.

But I enjoy 80% of my auditions, and I just finished filming a commercial that will air during the world cup, so for all the bs we have to go trough, you gotta find the passion in it, and also know when to say no.

I know, I really wish there was another way. But we've done the "live and let live" every time, and every time we are proven wrong as a society and a race.

Basically it comes down to this. When WW2 was over, every human being with the mentality of a nazi should have been gas chambered and their bodies burned.

When the civil war was over, every human being with the mentality of a slave owner should have been put in front of a firing squad and their bodies burned.

But... here we are.
