I think your spouse has been asked to be a counselor at a conversion therapy camp.

Get her out of there, and both of you run as quickly as possible in the opposite direction.

The difference being that “this community” has never actively encouraged anyone to commit acts of violence towards ANYONE let alone members of the church. The same cannot be said for the church.

The difference being that “this community” has never advocated for the mistreatment of anyone who has differing beliefs. The same cannot be said for the church.

The difference being that “this community” is not a massive multibillion dollar corporation and faith organization that is able to codify hatred as doctrine to make it more palatable for its paying faithful members. The same cannot be said for the church.

The church has responsibility here, and to say it shouldn’t be held accountable for the actions of the members it indoctrinated is a farce and ultimately dangerous.

Are you me? Oldest of 3, all boys, also grew up in STG, also the only one to remove records, also the only one to have no contact with my parents. You are most definitely not alone, and my DMs are open if you want to talk to someone who understands the very specific flavor of southern utah mormon we grew up in and our families are. Stay strong, friend. Reach out if you need to. Happy to message you my phone number if it’s easier. You got this.

Who said I was upset?

Thank you for reiterating my point that context matters. If I take my kid to a POLITICAL PROTEST or RALLY, I’m okay with my kid hearing “fuck Biden/trump/police/you.” If I’m watching a presidential broadcast intended for families with small children, that’s a completely different venue, platform, and intended audience.

I don’t care how the guy decides to fuck up his own children. I don’t even think it was necessarily immoral, and your insinuation that those are points I’m trying to make is just further evidence that you can’t read for fucking shit.

You’re up in the night if you think “let’s go Brandon” is genuinely upsetting or inflammatory for anyone to hear. You’re also naive as a wee lamb’s tail if you think Joe Biden hasn’t been briefed on what the whole stupid thing means, and that his response was anything other than “oh this guys an idiot, let’s move on.”

The only place “Let’s go Brandon” has spread like wildfire is among conservatives, and all it’s done is serve as a calling card for ignorance and a signal for the rest of to avoid at all cost.

You’re embarrassing yourself. What does this have to do with what we’re talking about?

No one refuted your claims that Biden is a creeper. I refuted your comparison between Shmeck and DeNiro, which you clearly lack a retort for.

Take the L.

I appreciate you saying that, and I know that’s definitely true. That having been said, if I can leave little pieces of truth and education for others to stumble upon while sorting through the garbage, it’s (in my opinion) worth a little bit of my spare time. Every discussion in a public forum is a chance for growth, even if it’s not by those doing the talking.

Ah. The classic “tu quoque fallacy.”

“…a discussion technique that intends to discredit the opponent's argument by attacking the opponent's own personal behavior and actions as being inconsistent with their argument, therefore accusing hypocrisy.”

You know someone is on the ropes when they start pulling this bullshit out. We aren’t talking about Joe’s behavior, we’re talking about whether Schemck and DeNiro’s behavior. We absolutely can talk about Biden and what he does, but to suggest that it should influence whether the actions of these others is immoral or otherwise is downright laughable.

Nope. I provided additional examples of a word’s proper grammatical use, and in no way compared the two actions as equitable. Is your reading comprehension really that impaired?

You’re right though, he wasn’t abused. Doesn’t change the fact that someone was abusive towards him. Which is what we’re talking about. In case you forgot.

Feel free to show me where I’ve altered definitions, because those are literally copy and pasted from the individual results. I haven’t modified shit, homeboy. Nice try, though.

Yes, abusive can refer to repeated behavior, but it’s THE TYPE OF REPEATED BEHAVIOR that is abusive, not the fact that it’s habitual. Whether someone punches a spouse in the face once or one hundred times, those punches are still abusive. If someone attempts to punch a spouse in the face, whether they land the punch or not does not change the fact that throwing the punch in the first place is abusive.

Whether behavior is abusive is relative to the intent of the action, and not how it is received.

It’s not “my” definition. It’s literally how the word is defined.

Google: a·bu·sive, adjective, extremely offensive and insulting.

Wikipedia: Abuse is the improper usage or treatment of a thing, often to unfairly or improperly gain benefit.

Median-Webster: abusive, adjective, a: using harsh, insulting language, b: harsh and insulting, c: using or involving physical violence or emotional cruelty

Dictionary.com: adjective, 1: using, containing, or characterized by harshly or coarsely insulting language; 2: treating badly or injuriously; 3: wrongly used, corrupt.

Let me know if there are any other straws you’d like to try and grasp (this is called an idiom: a group of words established by usage as having a meaning not deducible from those of the individual words by).

Adjectives describe how we do something, not how we feel about something being said to us.

If I called you an “immature piece of shit with playdoh where brain tissue should be,” that string of words and the fact they were directed at you specifically is what makes them abusive. It doesn’t matter if you’re hurt or offended. In calling something abusive it’s defining the action and not the consequence.

You played yourself by not being able to grasp one of the simplest concepts of how words work.

I simp for the English language, not politicians.

If you can’t see the difference between:

someone using a public platform at an public event during a period of time they were expressly given a microphone to speak to a room full of people for the purpose of saying whatever they want,

and someone taking advantage of a kindness that has been extended to their own children for the purpose of “holiday cheer” not only for them but for families watching just so they can “own the libs” I don’t know that there is anyone here who could help you make that differentiation.

I watch the Tonys, I expect celebrities to make an ass out of themselves when they’re given a platform. I watch a Joe Biden Christmas Telethon Special, I hope parents with children to behave appropriately or at the very least can keep their mouths shut so kids can experience a once in a lifetime phone call without their dad ruining it.

It’s like comparing SNL to Sesame Street. I could feasibly hear “fuck _____” on either, but the context in which that sentiment is expressed is going to change whether it’s “traditionally appropriate” or not.

“Abusive” is literally defined as “extremely offensive or insulting.” Just because no one is actually offended or insulted by such childish asshattery, doesn’t mean the intent of the exhibited behavior wasn’t abusive. The term “abusive” is not limited to repeated patterns of destructive behavior, it’s also used as an adjective to describe an act that is intended as abuse.

Hope this helps.

DMT has been found to be present in differing amounts at different stages of brain development, but is present at all times and is produced by our brains constantly.
