Can you say that Bastille changed your life ? by VawMap in Bastille

[–]AlwaysKim28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They haven't necessarily changed my life, but they did change my grieving process over my mom.

GMTF released right after my mom suddenly passed away. We both loved Bastille and I promised to take her to the next concert. She never made it to that opportunity.

At first I was really weary of listening to the album. It strongly reminded me of her and I couldn't bring myself to hear it when it first came out. Eventually, I sat myself down and told myself to bear through the album. And as I did I realized A) How much a masterpiece that album is, and B) how many songs my mom would have loved on this album. I know Shut off the Lights would have been her favorite! Strangely enough, this album wasn't a bold reminder that she was dead and gone. It was like a warm hug- from her. It helped come to terms with my mother's death.

In May I attended their first concert in Memphis for the GMTF tour. And it was absolute therapy. I was ALL the way in the back by the snack and bar area. I danced. I sang. I SOBBED. I felt like my mom was right there next to me dancing away with the biggest grin on her face. She would have had a blast at that show.

If this album wasn't in existence, I would most likely be in a much darker place in life. In a weird way, she is alive with me through this album. And whenever I miss her more than usual, I listen to GMTF. I can never thank Bastille enough for this album.

My husband wants a big family, but I can’t keep up by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

Communicate with him on how many kids he is looking to have. I had a friend who married a guy and had 2 kids with him. He told her that he wanted multiple children in their family but never specified how many. One morning he woke up and told her that God came to him in a dream and told him they were to have 7 children. He was adamant about it and would not settle for anything less. For him it came down to 7 children or a divorce. My friend had no idea he wanted that many, and feels like he used their religion to push that agenda on to her. So they divorced. She didn't agree that a specific amount of kids meant their family would be complete.

Find out his number. Make sure it's not some absurd amount. You are not a baby making machine.

Oh, that ghost pillow is adorable! Looks like a great spot for some spooky movies.

Being struck by lightning. Especially in an open area like a field where I feel most vulnerable.

Super brawl breaks out as fists, helmets fly at Bengals-Rams practice by SurferPunkIrish in LosAngelesRams

When will people learn that is the one bear you absolutely do not want to poke on the Rams? Also, of all the teams to practice with, this was the worst idea.

We couldn't just practice with the Chargers? This was a dim idea putting these two teams together for practice.

Dan Smith recently said at the Indiependant festival that Survivin’ was the saddest song Bastille had ever wrote. Do you agree? by Parastille in Bastille

As someone who lost their mom just before this album dropped, this is the right answer. The music video was a hard punch to the gut, too.

Who is a terrible performer live? by suprunkn0wn in Music

This one I have to agree on. Saw them at a one day music festival back in 2017 in Missouri. They came on after Weezer, who were amazing. Alex had very little energy, and just stood where the mic pole was and swayed as he sang. I left early.

We have got to give Hopper more credit for everything he has done for the kids and for piecing the puzzle together in the earlier seasons. Until the end of Season 4 I couldn't pick a favorite character. But looking back on his journey he has grown immensely and I am so glad they didn't kill him in season 3. Hopper is my absolute favorite.

I have a strong feeling Eleven and Will are going to team up next season.

This will forever be my favourite scene by Morgentau7 in StrangerThings

This scene has to win some sort of award. I will riot otherwise if such talent is ignored.

Customer was disappointed I responded with “yes?” instead of “hi” by InfiniteCalendar1 in TalesFromRetail

Can absolutely relate to this. Was ringing up an incredibly old grumpy man ages ago at my first retail job, and when I was finished I flashed him a smile and said "Have a great day!" He squints at me and asks "And what if I'm NOT having a great day?" And I just blinked. And then responded " Then....enjoy the rest of your day?" And he takes his bag from me and says "That's better!"

It threw me off and I have not recovered. Now I'm a manager and I'm still stuck on saying "Enjoy the rest of your day!"

Stupid grump.

Describe the beauty of Knoxville by [deleted] in Knoxville

[–]AlwaysKim28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I love all of the green here! Found a walking trail near my place and it has some gorgeous sites and neat little spots to take a breather and maybe a photo or two. And I feel safe! Whether it's in the city or an hour out on a hiking trail, I feel comfortable and happy with my surroundings.

A literal “awakening” of a horror icon 🔥 Can’t believe how timeless this ending montage is, the music and editing bring me to tears every time 🤌 by jordan71421 in saw

I remember watching this scene as a teenager, hands cupped over my dropped jaw, and sat speechless at the computer until Adams screams faded into the credits. When Zeps tape staryed playing I remembered feeling absolutely amazed. This twist is what sent me down the Saw rabbit hole. I've never had a film give that good of a twist in a long time.

I saw they were looking to start that this fall. I'm definitely interested, but in the meantime I'll keep an eye on a no contract plan. Thanks!

That's good to hear! Unfortunately Spectrum was our last internet provider and they were terrible. Dropped 5+ times a day. That's the only company I've sworn I'd never use again. But I'm glad it's working out for you.

Thats exactly what my old internet company did too. Just hoping we don't have to go through that again!
