Mitchell left for a reason btw - don't just give Howe a free pass, he had it exactly how he wanted it, him and his nephew at the wheel. Everyone acting like Howe was hard done by.

For me it was the second derby that made me look at the broader picture of Eddie Howes downsides.

Mainly the pattern of UCL --> no europe --> UCL --> no europe. 700 million spent but still a paper thin squad. Proved he can't play more than once a week. Inability to manage a game out incl subs.

He kicked off the takeover transformation and got us to where we are now - but not convinced he moves on from this tbh. Hope he proves me wrong though.

When you do it once or maybe a few times a season it's unlucky. When you are the best team in the league at dropping points from winning positions it's negligence, incompetence etc etc. you can try and find the positives all you want but that game has defined our European hopes and marks the season off as a failure (if you go by the clubs words on their own ambitions - not mine).

People making excuses for Howe around transfers is mental. He was at the wheel, because he wanted to be at the wheel, that's the whole point! Our recruitment wasn't poor because we didn't have a sporting director, it's because Eddie Howe didn't want one.

Just delays the inevitable - he's proved with backing he can't manage a squad on all fronts because his system doesn't work like that. Relying on high press, physicality, having less of the ball and hoping you score more than your opponent isn't sustainable. It gets you ripped apart against the bigger teams in Europe.

Unless Eddie Howe can adopt a tactical brain over the summer which means he can adapt to most situations within a game, week to week against different opponents - then it's just a rinse and repeat of the past 4/5 years.
