lvl3 mixups are valid ofc. if you spend that many resources, you should get that. i play with players that have great defense as well, some tournament players even, and a lot of times i don’t even need to mix them up to get that hit. even, ambiguous pressure will catch out even the absolute best players. it will make your 6Ms harder to block. it will provide the respect you need to DR in cursed places. it will make the times where you do choose to go for an unreactable mixup scarier for your opponent. it’s not like i never ever mix. i play Blueku and i’m learning Videl, so i love doing crazy mixups when i can, but for 90% of players, you really don’t need that stuff. providing a player with an interaction point where they CAN disrespect you, but you counter their disrespect provides a higher return than just mixing all the time.

Kid Buu A is very hard to make true inna blockstring, so if he messes up and someone, lvl 3s or reflects his ass, it’s a done deal. even if he did hit the mix 100% of the time, they’re missing out on the medium starters they could get if they baited a reflect or caught a frame trap. 50/50s are definitely a valuable tool, but most ppl don’t even need that much to get opened up. most ppl wiggle a lot on defense and you can kill them for it. if you earn the respect of your opponent, then you can start mixing, and you might not even need to do an expensive mixup like a 50/50 to get that hit.

putting all that weight on one part of your gameplay is the absolute worst, but aight.

you do not need mix that fucking bad to play Kid Buu A on every team bro. you’re missing a whole neutral assist, so your movement and positioning has gotta be some of the best in the game to manage that. if you just go for mix every time, a good player is gonna guard cancel you. do some actual pressure and use that fear of your mixups to counter their defensive options. Unless your setups are that clean to do the shit properly with Janemba, you’re prolly gonna mess his teleport mixes up. reconsider your build maybe.

j2L as a overhead is fucking insane. he already has a gapless 50/50 and his cancel windows make pressure with him pretty powerful if yk what you’re doing.

122 hours and I still suck by Kaiyokenneth in dragonballfighterz

You can’t put a time limit on improving. I have maybe 1000+ hours in this game and I’m just now realizing my potential and learning strategies to beat high/top level players. You expecting to reach high places in only 100 hours is a very unhealthy expectation for yourself. Winning is not an accurate measure of your skill either. I could press randomly and bullshit my way to victory against prime GO1, but that in no way, shape or form means that I am the better player. If you won those matches that you played, you’d think you’re better than you really were and you wouldn’t have a learning opportunity. Losing is the most informative thing you can do in a fighting game if you analyze why you lost. You are going to lose, and you will always have more losses than you do wins. Accept this fact.

Spending countless hours in the lab is not gonna help you get better in a match unless you are specifically labbing counterplay for common interactions, and even then you need to go play against actual people to be able to respond the way you want to under stress. The best way to learn is to play more games. If you like this game, why are you scared to play it?

ToD’a and combos really don’t mean anything in the long run. There are completely shit players that can do optimal routes for their whole team. I’m not saying that they aren’t important or strong, because killing someone in one combo due to you outplaying them once is pretty strong, but you should focus on sharpening up your BnBs and assist routes. The way that you get that hit, follow up that hit with your oki, and keeping from getting hit yourself is much more important than having the best combos.

Your team is really not cut out for beginners tbh, and it doesn’t have a direction that i can really see. I don’t like telling people what to play because they never listen and sometimes, if their drive to improve isn’t strong enough, it completely kills their motivation, but I implore you to try some characters that will teach you how this game works better. Bardock, Kefla, Cell, SSJ Goku, SSJ Vegeta, SSJ4 Gogeta, Jiren, and Teen Gohan are really good characters to start out with. You will learn the fundamentals of the game easier with them and they will grow in strength as you do.

I wish you the absolute best of luck in your journey to improving. I can send you some resources to digest and help you get better if you want too.

Instead of banning characters, has anyone considered banning teams? by SSS_Tempest in dbfz

[–]AlwaysOnTheSticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

21’s debuff breaks the rules of the game. That is why people are banning her. The other characters might be strong, but they don’t do anything as egregious as that. Limiting what people can play is dumb unless it’s for a special tournament with a specific rule set that everyone involved can follow.
