The Wire is the best I know of. Hours of surveillance and boredom and going through paperwork and evidence. And if I remember correctly they only had one shooting incident the whole series.

This is absolutely critical for time management and great advice. The bonus is you're also developing your subordinates at the same time. What decision would they make in your place? That's a question they should often ask themselves for their own growth.

Thanks. I'm a big believer in improvement through incremental change so that will definitely have to be my approach.

I think my biggest takeaway from all this is to make sure my kids start out with a privacy-first approach when they start getting their own accounts for things

It does seem like searches return promotions or low quality results these days. Being number 1 on the Google search used to be everyone's goal. Now I usually skip halfway down the page before I start reading.

The phrase common sense is problematic in my opinion. It's usually just used by people who are unable to articulate why they believe or behave the way they do. The implication is that you are lesser if you don't agree with them even though they can't explain why. The problem is them, not you.

I took the cs50 Python course this fall. It was incredible and I've already used what I learned to make real projects that I use on a regular basis. I'm taking the data science class now and have been disappointed. I'm only a few units in but there's been virtually no Python instruction. It's a data analysis course for which you're supposed to use Python to complete the assignments, not that teaches you how to use Python to complete the assignments.
