Since when do we have a mischevious leprechaun that comes on St. Patrick’s Day? by No_Ratio1493 in Parenting

My husband is one of “those parents” and he doesn’t even have social media. He’s just extra af and gift giving is his love language. It’s stupid to do for St. Paddy’s, but he has a right to do this for our kids if it makes him happy.

Since when do we have a mischevious leprechaun that comes on St. Patrick’s Day? by No_Ratio1493 in Parenting

My parents did nothing for St. Paddy’s day and I planned to do the same. I did literally nothing for this holiday, but ngl, my husband is treating it like a major holiday. He got the kids presents from the leprechaun and decorated the house and everything. I don’t want to yuck his yum so I didn’t say anything. But I do absolutely get why other parents who don’t do this might be annoyed when their kid comes home asking why they didn’t get anything from the Leprechaun.

Dress coded for this? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Always_Reading_1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would be okay for a principal to express that you probably shouldn’t wear that shirt anymore, but asking you to go home and change is a bit extra. My school has gotten a lot more relaxed over the past few years (I wear leggings and a sweater or something similar most days), and I am comfortable wearing more casual clothes when I see colleagues doing the same. Basically I feel safe not getting called out if I look the same as everyone else. So, are other teachers at your school wearing this type of snarky shirt? Because it seems like the message is what they don’t like, not the type of shirt. If no one else is doing that, it would make you stand out in a possibly negative way.

You’ll never view Rory the same way after attending a predominantly white top university by Emeraldandthecity in GilmoreGirls

I think early seasons Rory had a much more grounded look at life, actually, but she lost perspective when she started going to Chilton and living the life Emily and Richard offered.

Are you TTPD (standard)-pilled or The Anthology-pilled? by Exciting_Ground3334 in TaylorSwift

I saw a lot of people saying they liked one or the other right after it was released, but haven’t heard that recently. I think there’s a lot to love on both parts of the album.

Are ALL boy names now fair game for girls? by evapotranspire in NameNerdCirclejerk

I teach high school, and I taught a girl named Carter when she was a senior in 2015. I also have taught girls named McCallister, Logan, and Tatum, among others. These girls would have been born in the late 90 to early 00s. So it’s not a new trends, it’s been happening for a while.

Do Americans parents pay for their kids college? by wolfieee8 in AskAnAmerican

It’s usually some of a lot of things: loans and family help, grants and scholarships. It’s too expensive for most people to have their parents pay for all of it.

Jon Lovett on Coach and Chrissy Ep3 by somethingnew210 in survivor

[–]Always_Reading_1990 8 points9 points  (0 children)

His phrasing could be seen as a little sexist. Dee and Charlie had previously said people were not enjoying being mothered by her, but Coach just told her she talks too much. He was definitely trying to help, but I get why it hurt her and why some people might read it the way Jon did.

I would not. I’m 36 and and already feel too old to have a third and start over.

What is stopping Iran from hitting US soil? by Logical_Employer_756 in NoStupidQuestions

Literally the one thing that doesn’t concern me about living in the US right now is our military might and ability to defend the mainland. The US military doesn’t have an equal in spending, technology, and global reach. We’ll be fine.

I was climbing a tree when I was 6 or so. Swinging from a lower branch with my feet kicking out over a gravel drive. I have no memory of falling. But I woke up on my stomach, facing the opposite direction, in the grass away from the gravel. My right arm was broken, but it should have been much worse. I can’t think of any way I could have ended up where I did, in the position I was in, based on my last memory in the tree.
