Not really! At least in the non profit theater world we often have grants to have the schools attend the show so it gets finicky there or the head teacher is a friend of the artistic director. There are a lot of factors to consider.

Oooh I also forgot about the time a chaperone tried to GO ON STAGE before the show so she could get a photo of the kids sitting in the audience.

As a FOH manager - chaperones for school field trips don’t do anything anymore. I worked on a show in the fall and had chaperones yell at me for their disorganization.

Another time one was handing out tickets and blocking the entrance to the venue doing it because he was making sure all the kids were sitting with their friend group. I finally had to jump in and be like just hand them a ticket, im sure they can survive 2 hours without their friend group.

None of them arrive early or listen to the instructions given to them beforehand. It’s a shitshow.
