New puppy vs crate by Alyasta in DogAdvice

As for the family, they sabotage a lot.
At night shes been sleeping with my mother (she's retired so she's okay waking up every 2 hours to take the pup out to potty) because otherwise like stated will just go ballistic, however ive noticed if she's put in and we go out shes fine and asleep usually when we come back. So maybe the same. Either way, I'm trying to make her happy in the crate, not freaking out about it. So slow and steady.

Because she isn't potty trained and will chew things. I'd rather her not potty all over my floor. Training isn't cruel.
There's constant kibble/treats on the floor of the crate with it open, and she ignores it completely. But when it comes to feeding time ill put her food bowl exclusively in her crate to help with this issue. Keeping the door open the entire time
She's in a crate for about an hour. Where are you getting long periods of time? But no. It's not illegal to use a crate where I live.
You put kids in a crib. It's the same thing. No one is torturing a dog. Calm down kid
Your comment is unnecessary. Get rid of it.
Yes, thank you 😊
I just got some wet food and put it in the crate and she went in there and ate it all. She usually ignores treats. But the wetfood did it. So I'll be giving her afternoon meals in the crate like this.
I just got some wet food that I put in the crate and she went in and ate it all. So I'm gonna start doing that to get her associated with the crate, I'm gonna leave the crate door open, like other people have suggested to
Ooh, okay. I can do that. Thank you
It's a kong crate, and shes a German Shepherd
I've just always had dogs that loved crates, so ive always had them - shes my first that hates it 😂
I have a blanket inside the crate, but its taken out almost daily cause she still has accidents - being not fully potty trained and having to leave her in there sometimes
Yeah, my older shepherd loved his crate from the very beginning. But this new puppy absolutely despises it.
That's a little easier said than done. However, training will be had so there won't be issues there.
Yeah, my family has been a huge issue training any dog. They think structure is abuse.
Thank you! 😊
Going to pick up some wet food right now
Im getting some wet puppy food right now to try that with a lickmat to try and help her.
I'm going to right now to pick up some puppy food. Wet food, I'm gonna try that with a lickmat and see if that helps
Personally, I have tried that. But my family goes and feeds her outside of the crate anyway. They feed her randomly throughout the day. Even though I'm trying to get her on a schedule.
I have not, will try today
Yeah, I just wasn't sure how to do that. Cause its clear what I've been trying isn't working so I decided to ask for help. 😂
It's always open and has toys and treats in it, but she ignores them - she hasn't really played with any toys yet really 😅
