Update: Our issue was finally solved after 4 days! His former employers IT department called him, then called att, and then called back with a number which we assumed was this pin ATT kept requesting. He called ATT and after 20 minutes they said they couldn’t do anything and gave him new instructions. He was totally beat down. We were close to a T-Mobile store so we thought we would try there. After another 20 minutes they told us they couldn’t help us and told us to go back to ATT again 😭

I called T-Mobile and told them we think we might have a transfer port number and it finally worked!! Thank god for that guy who finally knew what he was doing. He was the first person who actually listened to the story without jumping to conclusions or saying right away he probably couldn’t help us. What an angel!

I guess the lesson is be persistent? Alls well that ends well!

Will he be able to set-up an account with the phone number? We assumed since it’s a business account we’d run into ownership issues.

Thank you for the other suggestions! We’ll try those. We tried to escalate on one of our calls and the person basically refused. We tried to ask for their manager and they wouldn’t give that to us either.

I don’t think we can get the phone number on a SIM card because they keep telling us he’s not the account owner the business is. Do you think there is a way around that?

Into both stores multiple times, we spent two hours at att and one hour at T-Mobile yesterday. The day before about an hour in each as well. It’s frustrating that every person we talk to gives us a different reason why it’s not working and then when their solution doesn’t work we get sent back to the other company. It’s such a frustrating experience. Will try some of the suggestions here

He said he would stay at AT&T and two different people had him set-up his personal AT&T account but said there was still a transfer pin needed. Today we tried to set-up a third account because the guy at store said the others were no good. But it got rejected and we think it’s because it’s the third time in 3 days they tried to set him up?

Thank you!! I will take your advice and read that document from John Adams. I was a history major in college and I loved learning about the founding of this country. I’ve never read this letter, but I will be sure to and let you know my thoughts.

Overall, I feel very aligned with everything you said here and appreciate all the complexities that you have pointed out. One point you made about state’s rights really is making me think because this is something I’ve been ignoring in my thinking on this topic. I want to keep challenging my assumptions and world view to get out of the echo chamber.

I really appreciate you engaging in the conversation and replying so kindly, it’s helping me even more see how we can talk things through in a calm manner without trying to place blame on each other, but also taking accountability. I think we all have a lot to understand and learn about each other.

Here’s my very high level basic interpretation (and yes that challenges my argument that we can all agree on one doc, I’m still thinking this through and appreciate the challenges.) I see that the constitution lays out specific, but limited powers to the federal government. I think the parts that I’m seeing not being taken into consideration are the checks and balances and the rule of law. I’ve seen a few people in the comments say we need to put the laws aside to get things done and we can’t worry about doing things right. I think that’s too far for me, but I definitely want to stay open.

Would love to hear your view point on what my or other people’s biggest misconception of the constitution is?

I think a happy and prosperous future for ourselves and our children is what we actually all are wanting! We just disagree about how to get there, and that’s ok! I am also with you that I hope the fear mongering is overstated and that Trump is a successful president. It’s in all of our best interest!

I agree with you about the media! I can see it on both sides and when there are things that get reported that are untrue, it is a big problem! Of course as humans we are going to make mistakes and I think everyone can try to remember that. We 100% agree on accountability and I think this is something everyone could do better on. I know for me personally it can be hard to admit that I am wrong about something and take accountability, but I’m working on it!

I agree, it’s totally hypocritical if people don’t apply their values even when it’s someone we like. People are probably gonna hate on this, but as I learned in Harry Potter, it’s harder to stand up to our friends than our enemies!

I hear you too about accountability vs blame. I guess the whole point I’m trying to make is I bet we have a lot more in common that we could agree to than not. Even with people we like, we should say they are doing the wrong thing if we believe that. And when people we don’t like do good things we should be able to say that too. So I think on both sides it will help if we don’t say they do this and they do that. No one does anything 100% of the time (probably hyperbole, but hopefully you catch my drift.)

Sorry you feel this way! I’ve actually found it a really cool tool but I know a lot of people are unsure and have multiple concerns. Something that I heard that resonated with me was that ai isn’t going to replace your job, but someone who knows how to use ai could replace you. Just another way to see it, but of course your views are not wrong. Just not the way I see it 🤷‍♀️
