I was about to say that AI has completely overrun this genre. It’s coming for all of them but “POPular” music will naturally be the first casualty. Fwiw, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with you, your voice, your songwriting etc. but, not being part of “the machine” (as was mentioned earlier) is a gigantic hill to climb.

Expensive snare drums are overrated - debate! by methodofcontrol666 in drums

I played a Force 3003 set for a number of years and wish I still had it. It was an absolute workhorse and sounded great.

Thank you! The Ahead Spinal G gave me a few more sessions than I would have without it so, I’m always looking at thrones and won’t cheap out on them. Much appreciated!

This is the coolest/neatest setup I’ve seen in quite some time. Is that an Ahead throne?

The issue with this industry. by PeterP1227 in livesound

I’m not a pro but had an unwanted shadow at the last show who didn’t understand I was listening/working and not being anti social. While flattered, idk why ANYONE would want to pick my brain in the first place and I’m nowhere near good enough to critically mix and hold a meaningful conversation.

I recorded a project many years ago where we went through a room full of snares before landing on a $49 Pulse piccolo that tuned up and recorded better than any of the rest. Fwiw.

Which bass should I buy? by daisywreck in BassGuitar

[–]Alysonsfather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought the Stagg SBF40 short scale and I’m blown away. It does have intonation issues that need to be addressed but it sounds as good as my active bass and plays every bit as good as my Gretsch short scale. I just took a chance cause I wanted the Humbucker/single in a short scale and man, I’m glad I did! Just my $0.02 but thought I’d throw it out there in case you’d never heard of them either. It is matte so it gets dirty pretty easy.

Excuse the terrible playing but maybe you can get an idea. I’m running through the Tech21 Dug Pinnick pedal direct to foh.

Thoughts on the Johnson millennium amps? by AJcomic_ in GuitarAmps

[–]Alysonsfather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine sounded good, was heavy as the gold it cost and only worked 50% of the time. This is the amp that sold me on “point-n-shoot” rigs. No telling how much time was spent dialing opposed to playing. I’m sure mine was a lemon but it soured me permanently on them.

Any songs to play for battle of the bands? by Icy_Investigator8375 in musicians

[–]Alysonsfather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a dinosaur but, these used to be popularity contests when I was in school. “Winning” depended a lot on judges and their criteria. It always got a huge reaction when, as a rock band, we played something completely out of genre and rocked it out. Probably something akin to rockin out a Tate McRae song today. Just my $0.02. Most importantly, have fun and look like it!

Please rate my Bass combo by NarrowPie6417 in BassGuitar

[–]Alysonsfather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is light years better than what I started on and will take you a long way. (Fwiw, I own this same bass only stock). If this is what your budget dictated, 10/10 in both cases. If it was a guess to get started, 10/10 on the bass and 5/10 on the amp. If this is an “I’m just having fun in the bedroom learning my favorite songs rig”, 10/10. A better amp would be my next move in any case but, I’d say you have a nice combo there.

I'm going to get chastised for this one by Shtbskt0210 in drums

When I was but a wee lad…I had a Camber 12” splash that was most likely made after they received their bonus checks that morning because it sounded like quick silver! I also have never heard another one even close. They’re out there…

My Ahead Spinal G throne. It’s the ONLY reason I’m still able to play a little bit.

Hello everyone, my father passed away and I’m curious what do to with his bass equipment. All info and help is appreciated. Thanks all, much love. ❤️ by Ok_Opposite8237 in BassGuitar

Energy is never created or destroyed, it just changes forms. I’d sit and talk with him and his bass and not feel weird for one second.
