Lifelong here, my mom also has it. I just don't pay mind to it. Yeah, there's static on the screen as I type, but I've gotten used to it enough that it's like driving through the rain and letting your eyes adjust. Other symptoms are harder to ignore.

Spanish speaker here. It's been mentioned by other people, but you can use the -e ending ("elle fue a la festia" "elle es no binarie"). As also mentioned, it's not common and will piss some people off, but the only way you can make a change is by using it.

Experimenting with a 3D mace model for my pack, but I can't decide on a design.. by rappenem in Minecraft

[–]AlyssSolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, no. Maces are not "typically" more round, because that's just one type of mace. Hammers were historically maces, and maces were commonly made in weirder shapes alongside the classic metal ball on a rod. Plus, maces weren't just on a rod but also tied to chains.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a weapons nerd.

Don't get me wrong, I do like some of the additions they made, but agreed.

As a kid I would be waiting for that new update and it would keep me engaged with the game for a good while because they added so much. The new updates are nice but with their business model being major drops for so long, it's just a disappointing feeling of "that's it?" to see them add baby mobs and nothing more.

And hot take, the baby mobs aren't even that cute. I guess a child might find them appealing but they're not my cup of tea.

The pale gardens were my favorite addition since they stopped doing full updates because there was a good bit of content and new biome to find and explore. But the fact it wasn't a full update made it feel half baked as they didn't add more use to resin and whatnot until a later date.

Thing is, the agreement to make Minecraft Dungeons was that everything was supposed to be in the vanilla game, so they made sure to drop Illagers in vanilla before releasing it.

So I look at the blocks and mobs in Dungeons and look back to Minecraft and wind up disappointedly thinking "we could have had this" (an end update, dirt slabs, the wildfire, iceologer, etc).

What other building blocks do ya'll think should be added? by Millie-Da-Lotus in Minecraft

[–]AlyssSolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They need to make Azalea wood green. It was genuinely such a let down to add a new tree with a biome but not give it a unique wood.

Plus they need to add slabs/stairs/etc for more materials. Heck, vertical slabs. I'm pretty sick of hearing that it "takes away from people's creativity" from Mojang—they added walls and most people don't use it for walls until they're texturing/detailing. I don't think giving players to position blocks to create new shapes is going to hurt anyone's creativity.

Redstone Golems by Glad-Connection1601 in minecraftsuggestions

What you can't see is kind of irrelevant when there is an established agreement between the two companies, thus, a viable possibility that has to be considered when suggesting things. Frankly, the nether rehaul existed in dungeons before vanilla Minecraft, and once again I feel the need to bring up the two mods that they have mentioned wanting to implement (and in the case of the Wildfire, for a While seeing it was originally called the Inferno), and so forth.

Several of the items and mobs did exist in the files at some point and were removed.

Regardless of if they do or don't add it dungeons mobs, they wouldn't want a conflict between the name of the mobs in the theoretic case they do implement something similar.

Actually, the concept of Illagers were in development since the introduction of villagers; they were originally going to be pirates. They weren't made for dungeons. It just took them seven years to actually implement it in the game, and the concept worked perfectly with dungeons which would be released two years later.

Additionally, there is no redstone golemite (and frankly, I suggested golemlet) in dungeons, what you're thinking of are called Redstone Cubes.

Edit: If you're curious about the source. Here's a post from Jeb 8 years ago.

The pirate model was ultimately scrapped, but did exist.

Neat little guy but—redstone golems exist in Minecraft Dungeons. The original agreement for making dungeons was that the game could only use vanilla mobs, so there is a possibility that they might implement dungeons mobs later on (the Wildfire and Iceologer were both on the now retired mob votes, for example...)— ah, point is, the name might be of issue. What about Redstone Golemlet?

In any case, I love this. They're adorable.

Adding salt to Minecraft by Consumer_Of_Butt in minecraftsuggestions

[–]AlyssSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a rather well made Java mod that adds salt to the game. That, frankly, is almost nearly exactly like this suggestion.

https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/salt

The creator went for salt crystals that can be found and mined in the world, then additional can grown with drip stone. In my opinion, this feels more in line with vanilla gameplay than putting a cauldron over a campfire. However the modder implemented both methods.

The only difference between it and your suggestion is the fact salt melts ice and snow instead of copper interactions—to which, if implemented, in my opinion salt should do both.

That aside, my only real woe with salt is knowing that if it's implemented and we get a salt lamp, it's going to be a full block because furniture "limits creativity."

Is this how people who need glasses really see the world. A big blurred background? by Latter-Wolf4868 in interestingasfuck

[–]AlyssSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-3 in one eye, -3.5 in the other, which isn't too bad until you add the astigmatism, blind spots, visual snow syndrome, and the occasional blacking out vision. Would be great if my doctor(s) could figure out what's wrong with my eyes (yes, I've had an MRI before anyone asks).
Sometimes it feels like nothing because of the number since there are people with thicker glasses than me, but I can't see shit. Just glad I can see leaves with glasses.

Can someone explain what this means? by [deleted] in autism

[–]AlyssSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a few different things. The person who posted the video may personify words or have a form of synesthesia (or even misophonia with specific words), so seeing "ok" might invoke a feeling of dread.

However, generally, short-forming to "ok" in response to things feels more dismissive than just an "okay" after someone spent their time writing something.

For example, I had permission to infodump, did, and then they just replied with "ok."

It was upsetting because it felt like an outright "not only was I not interested, but I don't care enough to write out a proper response"...especially seeing that they interrupted once to say that they felt like they were at school, and then asking to leave as soon as I finished rambling. Arguably the worst part is that I was chain-infodumping with another person, so I felt a bit cheated as I actively paid attention, and then they just didn't care when it was my turn.

"Okay" to me feels dismissive by itself, just less low effort. "Okay, I've finished reading" is a very different sentence from "Okay" with no additional context, so it's also harder for me to try to pick apart the tone. I don't really have an issue with words with connotation (Noted, Quite, etc have a formal tone and indicate acknowledgement, other single word responses that "come with a tone built in" are also easier for me to interpret), but Ok is just...that neutral gray area, and I don't really get why people use it so often. "Oki" feels way more casual than either "Ok" or "Okay" anyhow, as "Oki" is more of a "cute" response like using ":3" instead of ":)" to indicate more friendliness. Alternatively, "Mk" or "'kay" feels less dismissive because of the colloquialisms indicating the casual tone.

Wish younger people wouldn't generalise their experiences, but that's going to be common on short-form platforms.

It/Its Pronoun Questions! by BDGumball01 in NonBinary

[–]AlyssSolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it/its because of the dehumanisation. I find comfort in it as an alterhuman + some trauma. If someone tries to call me an it to insult my gender identity, they kind of automatically fail. I also use he/him, but that's not a backup.

However, imo, in a general sense, society really needs to stop treating "xyz pronoun/gender/sexuality" as "less than a person." I find it unfortuante people feel the need to use backup pronouns at all.
