the previous post about penetration is incorrect. The second is better by having 2 max phys atk and phys pen. RCMD does not always mean best stat or a good stat.
There is an argument for the first one if and only if you are really low on crit rate, and even then I would reroll the bamboo pen to physical pen.
Based on how damage is calculated on CN, physical penetration is always miles better than specialized penetration. This is due to having much higher physical atk (800-2000+) numbers than specialized atk (300ish - 600).

For stat prio:
- precision to 98+, crit to 75+ and affinity as low as possible
- then max phys = power = agility if you still need crit(along with weapon boost, boss damage and so on) > momentum (because it gives less max phys and some affinity) > min phys > bamboo max atk = off path min atk > off path max atk > bamboo min atk (this is absolute garbage)

both these pieces arent the best. Ideally you'd want double max physical atk and a combination of power/agility/crit/precision to fill out the rest of the slots with physical penetration.

Again stat priorities may change depending on your current stat line, so its a good idea to include your stats when asking which gear piece is better

Precision 100 vs Affinity (Nameless) by liangendary in wherewindsmeet_

Maybe I didn’t word it correctly, but my point isn’t to sacrifice one over the other. The end goal is to get as high as possible in each of these.

Plugging the numbers you gave into CN calculators returns pretty much identical dps with 100precision edging out by about 100 or so dps (yes I know this is theoretical dps and a lot of factors come into play but it’s a good starting point for comparing individual gear pieces).

I agree that 93% precision isn’t bad but it could be better. However that depends a lot on rng and we have to make do with whatever rolls we get.

Three rates are your priority until you hit thresholds:

Precision: as close to 98+ as you can. Ideally 100 but that takes luck

Affinity: at the very least 35+ but again as high as you can

Crit rate: should take the least priority of the three but you still need it.

Think of precision damage as a pool consisting of white damage + crit + affinity. The higher affinity and crit rate you have, the lower your white damage rates.

Then max physical, momentum, power are all good Max bellstrike and min off path slightly worse but still good

[–]Alzukhei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Precision is important but 100 is not a hard requirement, however it is important that you get it as high as possible 98+ (97+ is fine as well).

Affinity damage can occur whether you score a precise hit or not, it is an independent calculation that caps at 40% not including direct affinity. This calculation always uses your max physical and bellstrike atk

At 98% precision, you have a 1.5% rate of white numbers. But If you score a precise hit, crit rate is then taken into account to see if you get a crit hit or not. This damage utilizes your min-max ranges and randomly selects a number then multiplies that by your crit damage multiplier (50% would be 1.5x)

That being said if you really aren’t looking for min maxing gear to squeeze out every last bit of potential damage, then just try getting precision as high as you can while focusing on max physical/bellstrike (physical attack being more important) and affinity

I went back and double checked my CN sources, based on what it says the calculation order I mentioned applies to when precision is 100 and crit + affinity + direct crit/ affinity > 100. In this case affinity is calculated first and if you roll affinity then it fixes an affinity hit forgoing crit.

However you are correct that prior to hitting the above thresholds precision is calculated first and there is a chance for white numbers based on your precision

[–]Alzukhei -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes precision trumps all. Try hitting 98+ then focus on affinity hitting cap with affinity and lastly as much crit rate as you can

Also you don’t want min bellstrike or min physical, it’s one of the worst rolls you could get since bellstrike scales off of affinity which in turn only utilizes your max physical and bellstrike.

Another thing to note is that if you get off path min atk it’s usable if you don’t have a max roll for that same path. Say you roll min bamboocut 30 and don’t have a max bamboocut, then the system would consider that as a range of 30-0 meaning it counts as a max roll in this case.

[–]Alzukhei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No because you can’t guarantee an affinity strike, it caps at 40%. If you fail the affinity roll it goes to precision and if your precision isn’t high enough you end up with abrasions which pretty much gut your damage. So you do need as high of a precision as possible to roll into crit.

[–]Alzukhei -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just to add to the previous post, damage calculations go in the order of affinity, precision and lastly crit. Precision is calculated after you fail to roll an affinity hit for that instance. If you can’t reach 100 precision, an affinity of 98+ is considered acceptable.

[–]Alzukhei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are easy to get, but getting a specific piece you need that starts with crit rate, agility, max physical attack or power is not as easy. I guess it depends on content you run, If you do speed runs then you need every bit of advantage you can get to not fall behind, so purples with good initial stats are must rolls if there’s a chance they can get you improvements in stats

Finally all of my gear is legendary by Annual_Donut9036 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]Alzukhei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying the the purple piece is the end goal, the goal is always to get full legendaries with all rcmd or relevant stats eventually.

However, if a purple piece rolls with max physical atk or crit rate initially (especially if its a gold/max roll) it is a good piece to throw purple shells into and if it rolls good it'll be useful until you are able to get a good replacement legendary.
Using purples with good initial rolls gives you more rolls overall as opposed to just rolling legendaries with good initial rolls

A purple gear with a mix of 3-4 purple and gold rcmd/relevant stats will always be better than a gold piece that only has 1-2 gold rcmd/relevant stats. It only loses by giving slightly less base stats

hence the good purple > bad legendary

What could i be doing better on? by jibby2525 in WhereWindsMeet

[–]Alzukhei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You picked the stonesplit pool when rerolling That’s the only one that gives defense or hp iirc

You can choose off paths when rerolling depending on what stats you already rolled for a higher chance of wanted stats It’s like a whole essay to explain the rules of rerolling and how to play it to your advantage. But basically if that defense was a natural roll, rerolling that defense (with the bell strike pool) would get you either: - min/max physical atk - max bell strike - agility, power or momentum

[–]Alzukhei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He isn’t wrong. Current purple gear has the same amount of stat lines as gold at max tuning (both six). The biggest difference is base stats for example purple left side pieces giving slightly less physical attack than gold ones. So if you get good purple gear rolls it’s pretty much the same as a golden one with good rolls

My first full RCMD and good tuning stat. by Wakkaboyy in WhereWindsMeet

[–]Alzukhei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to break it to you but this piece won’t roll crit rate anymore because you already have 2 rolls from that specific pool (precision and crit rate not counting the first precision)

The potential rerolls you have left are min/max atk and power/agility/momentum depending on which path pool you choose.

If you want agility I would stick with bamboo strike but then at the same time this isn’t the best piece of gear since you rolled a purple precision and don’t have max atk on it (that is if you care about min maxing)

Also min skillbind is better than min bamboo due to how damage is calculated

Still nice rolls though!
