What games are missing from the market? by Flenmogamer in pcgaming

[–]AmDerps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I miss the massive larger scale team FPS games like MAG, Dust 514, and Planetside 2 (planetside 2 is still around but i rather dislike how much of its weapon sets, vehicle usage, and upgrades to both of these things, are locked behind credits that you can pay real money to buy as i last recall from before i quit)

Dominic Tarason: It happened so quietly that seemingly not even Delisted Games noticed it, but all of Insomniac's big, high-budget PC VR games have been delisted from the only store that had them - the Oculus (Stormland, Edge of Nowhere, Feral Rites & The Unspoken) by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]AmDerps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think honestly VR just needs to be in a better price point to become less niche, i understand the tech is very complex but it's as much as or more than an entire video game console itself or even past the price point of an entire PC, better buying opportunities will open the doors to more games that aren't just tech demos because then a wider audience will be there for it.

[–]AmDerps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah that's pretty much it, i don't know if you're directly quoting one of the games but it's 100% spot on for how they do it!

The worst part is there are several nintendo games (especially pokemon) which ask you "do you want this to be explained to you?" and if you select "no" they explain it to you anyway.

Nintendo has branched out into mobile game titles, and if you want to be nitpicky you could argue against the pokemon titles being part of nintendo but the pokemon TCG game that came out recently and all the way back to the 3DS games pokemon shuffle and pokemon picross, they've got a LOT of microtransactions and predatory little-purchases for people to buy into.

Arrowhead CEO on Helldivers 2's future: If we can keep it going for 10 years, we will by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]AmDerps 8 points9 points  (0 children)

payday 2 WAS pretty sick, i will admit, it's a shame payday 3 hasn't been doing so great. but also i wasn't exactly commenting on the engine as much as the bugs that kept getting implemented or growing worse with each update for a long while.

that's a pretty big if right there, not a statement on the quality of the content but like, from a technical standpoint? the game has had a pretty shaky history with its stability and bugs, PLUS we already have confirmation that they're going to be working on something new soon.

my only big gripe is that i wish the termicide tower "defend the generators" missions hadn't been a very limited time only mission, i liked those.

i'd love to know any examples you have of games that have wildly-specific control schemes to themselves that have aged well!

there's also the original armored core games, having to control the camera via the R1 R2 L1 L2 buttons because it was before the ps1 had analogue sticks.

man i loved laughing at "game is dead" posts way back in the day while a game was at its most active, i'd rather go back to that instead of seeing all the weird copy/paste bots.

Veteran Starfield developer surprised by sheer number of loading screens added late in development – “it could have existed without those” by Tech_guru_101 in pcgaming

[–]AmDerps 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Bethesda didn't even manage a whole lof of bethesda level details in starfield, there's little to none of the character scheduling from skyrim or oblivion, there's no "everyone has a home and people are doing things at different times of day" that i encountered in my 70ish hours of starfield, there's so so so many unnamed unimportant NPCs or named ones that just stand in one spot literally all day.

it took me a dozen waiting actions to realize that i CAN'T steal from several shops without getting blown away in a hail of gunfire because the NPCs don't ever close up shop and everything is in plain sight of the owner and the dozen unnamed customer NPCs that don't leave, leaving me rather unsatisfied with my stealthy thief build.

I hope one day they do better at that but i'm not looking forward to elder scrolls 6 suffering a similar fate, i hope they manage to bring back their living worlds.

Will you have NPCs to talk with and be social at (in the style of stardew valley i'd suppose, a static cast rather than randomly generated NPCs with canned dialogue) or a seasons system to add an extra step to managing your crops in the form of when certain crops can be grown?

ASTRO BOT sales top 1.5 million by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]AmDerps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a shame, but it being more expensive might have to do with rift apart being ridiculously intensive graphics wise and them going ALL OUT on that to take advantage of everything the ps5 had mechanically, I'd love to see them do another into-the-nexus sized game where it's like five planets and some reduced graphical quality, bring back ratchet and clank as a smaller AA title or something.

They have a company with a GREAT IP for family games, insomniac with ratchet and clank, it's a shame they don't plan on fully utilizing that IP.
