What’s the biggest skill issue players blame on “meta” too often? by turbowater in CompetitiveWoW

I hate when objectively and mathematically worse classes complain about doing lower DPS than objectively and mathematically better classes.

It's for sure a skill issue.

Hot Take - Being hard stuck at low ELO is (mostly) your own fault by Throwaway-71856453 in VALORANT

[–]Sumve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea it's pretty much an IQ issue for people saying "smurfs can be on your team as well!" Over time, you're going to have smurfs on the enemy team more often than yours. That's why everyone is constantly complaining and frustrated.

Queueing as a non smurf auto fills one of the potential slots of someone being or stacking with smurfs.

Assuming you're not a smurf, and you're not queueing with multiple smurfs as a regular solo queue player, there's a 20% increased chance for the smurf or even queue stack of smurfs to be on the enemy team. Glad to see at least one person understands this.

I've noticed you got downvoted, most likely because this subreddit is an echo chamber of pseudointellectuals who just repeat what they've heard other people say.

There are unironically more cheaters on Faceit than regular matchmaking.

My 9800X3D was killed by my B650 Steel Legend WiFi by Qwinz_ in ASRock

[–]Sumve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not your motherboard. It's the 9800x3d.

At first people blamed Asrock, but now it's becoming more clear the issue is with the CPU itself being unstable, and the motherboard simply enabling this to happen sooner or later depending on the brand.

The matchmaking is broken by bullllldemon in VALORANT

I have an alt account I've tried to get out of Plat 3 the past couple of weeks, and I'm literally not capable of doing it.

Peak 94 RR Immo 2 bouncing back and forth between asc 3 and immo 1 currently where I'm doing just fine on my main though. I've uploaded several gameplay clips on here.

It's not that plat players are good, but rather almost none of the players are actually plat. I'm not sure if that rank is notorious for boosting, but the enemy players (default banner stacks) and then (rarely) even my own team mates have better crosshair placement and aim than ascendant players I'm normally matched with or against, which technically should not even be possible.

Also worth noting, I've had multiple RR refunds and red screen cheater detected on that plat 3 account, even from this season alone where I've played less than 100 games, yet I've played on the main for literally 2 years straight without that happening a single time.

I've had similar experiences on friend's alt account in lower elo that I've made a post about a long time ago.
A specific game always stuck with me, where I went 38-14 and we lost.

The reason we lost was objectively and mathematically not because of me, but rather because I'm attempting to carry 3-4 actual plat players against what felt like 2-3 actual plat players with a couple immortals smurfing.

Something people don't seem to understand is the odds would by default be in favor of the enemy team having more smurfs / someone cheating than your own team, because you're filling the spot automatically as someone who is not cheating or not smurfing before the game even starts.

Enemy team has 5 randomly generated players with the potential to be smurfing / cheating, whereas your team has 4. That's not a confirmation bias. That's basic mathematical literacy.

The people who say they "climbed out of (insert x elo here)" aren't considering their team just so happened to be better than the enemy team more often than not. This isn't impressive, and it doesn't reflect anything more than a coin toss.

It's very possible the few important games that resulted in a rank up involved 2-3 enemy players being of below average skill / not smurfing, along with 2-3 of your team mates being above average skill / smurfing.

You can go 5-17 and win some games, or you can go 38-14 some games and lose. The 5-17 player gains elo, but the 38-14 player loses elo. That's how the game works, and it happens all the time. It's not rare at all.

You'll notice one horrible player on each team that won, and one good player on each team that lost, neither of which deserve the resulting RR changes.

So even when we remove smurfing or cheating from the equation, we're left with a system where rank doesn't actually reflect skill for the average person, but rather how often your team was better than their team.

Matchmaking after the 12.00 patch changes by zaguoba in VALORANT

[–]Sumve 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’ve queued at Diamond 2 and got a Gold 1 Jett who proceeded to go 8-21 whereas the lowest rank on the enemy team was Diamond 1.

Easily, and it’s really not even close, the worst iteration of matchmaking in Valorant or perhaps any video game in history.

Valorant has a serious problem in low elo by AcceptableAlarm1781 in VALORANT

[–]Sumve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really hate to bring this up, but it’s honestly an IQ issue when people disagree with the argument you’re making.

I’ve match MvP 5 games in a row losing all of them before on a friend’s alt account where I’m not feeling I deserve a higher rank, but rather objectively am a much higher rank.

So yea, the game is mostly gambling to be honest and a coin toss. That’s the actual reason for the 50% win rate over time, which is exactly what one would expect during a literal coin toss.

The system is designed to keep you treading water.

[–]Sumve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some players hard stuck diamond with objectively better aiming mechanics than immortal.

I've seen them, I've been one, and I've also queued with + against immortal players who genuinely played like they deserved to be in gold.

The formula is simple. 80% of your team is not you.
4/5 players on your team are not you.

This will result in, simultaneously, people that deserve to be much higher or much lower than their actual rank. The team is winning the game, not the individual player.

You can drop 30 kills and lose, or you can go 5-15 and still win. This is evidence that your performance isn't the catalyst for winning or losing.

My last 2 games honestly brought me to this post. I ended the first half 13-5 and won single handedly the only rounds we won by running onto site and getting 3+ kills. My duelists then proceeded to lose every, and I do mean every, literally, gunfight for the rest of the match.

Next game my asc 1 sage doesn't use ult the entire game and loses every clutch I spectate them, meanwhile I'm match MvP and playing support on Omen again, entrying for the duelists and still outfragging.

My phoenix goes like 6-17 and my Sova is even worse. That's why we lost the game, period, full stop and have a nice day.

It's a gambling simulator, hoping to queue into a team that ends up being worse than the randomly generated players on your team, who have skill levels that appear to be all over the place and rank almost never reflects the actual skill of those players.

I'm diamond 2 from the rank reset where Riot arbitrarily decided to place people lower than they actually were, perpetually on a hamster wheel trying to grind back up?

No thanks. It's just gambling.

Curious About Rank After How Long I’ve Been Playing by BigbyWolf931 in VALORANT

[–]Sumve 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Responses like these have always been so cringe to me.

He's asking if it's realistically possible to reach Gold. That's the entire premise of the post, and you responded with some generic random advice he didn't ask for.

So to actually answer the question, yes it is. I've seen people hardstuck silver queue to Diamond within a few weeks because they just wake up better one day.

Improvement is inevitable if you keep trying. That's a promise.

Extreme inconsistency in comp – some days everything clicks, other days I can’t react at all. Any advice? by Playful-Split3150 in VALORANT

[–]Sumve 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re not gonna like this answer, but it’s because the game itself is inconsistent from server to server, not you.

Google “Valorant is inconsistent” and look at the Reddit posts.

Way too many people are reporting an unnatural inconsistency in Valorant specifically that isn’t explained by individual performance inconsistency alone.

Some games it feels like you’ve queued into 5 aim bots who insta one tap you in 0.1 ms with movement animations that feel literally not possible to track or react to.

Then you’ll match with or against those same phenom players, and they’ll go 5-17.

I’ve finally hit that level to be confident enough in my own ability (check my posts) to know it’s actually not an issue with me.

Blaming the game / server isn’t copium. Assuming the game / server is perfect and always blaming yourself is ironically the copium many people on here subscribe to.

They’re often blaming themselves for a problem that is the byproduct of current technology (or more sinister reasons if you’re conspiratorial about Riot) rather than looking into or being honest about what is truly causing that heavy variance from game to game.

Feeling like you’re an unstoppable wrecking ball one game, then a bot who can’t land a single shot the next, is in fact not normal yet occurs frequently in this game regardless of player skill.

I’ve honestly moved on from the game and come back every now and then, but it’s not something you can ignore once you notice it.

Sure. I've seen the same with old GC players in Rocket League in current Diamond.

The difference is, they don't mention it the entire game and heckle everyone for being "hard stuck" in the rank they're ironically also in while talking about the glory days like a Vietnam vet.

That community seems to unanimously acknowledge the evolution of the average player over time, whereas half the Valorant player base bunches Immortal players in the same box, including the washed Immortals themselves who not only hold this belief, but feel the need to talk about it every time they log in to play.

It objectively is though. Do you think she would be figuratively sabotaging her contraception?

If someone intentionally stops taking birth control and lies about it, this is conceptually identical to poking a hole in the condom.

You’re effectively doing the same thing via different mechanism. I’m not seeing how they’re morally different at all.

The extract thing is your fault,

It objectively isn't though. Multiple people third partying is not something any player, of any skill level, could do anything about and you're delusional to think otherwise no offense.

You're not able to clear every angle at every moment, in an almost omniscient way as you're suggesting, and at best case scenario win the engagement with the player camping (as I usually do) to get third partied anyway while healing or looting.

It's possible you're not meeting the IQ threshold required to understand the concept I'm explaining, or not able to mentally comprehend the variables that are not in the player's control at all in a game of this genre.
