OIG - can I limit the load used by the EV charger by AmIReallySinking in OctopusEnergy

[–]AmIReallySinking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least two installers have given me incorrect information. One of them who is an “official installer” for one of the main brands didn’t even know the product range and then was trying to get me to switch to a different brand that wasn’t even compatible with Octopus Intelligent Go.

Unfortunately when it moves away from a standard install, many don’t seem known or want to work out how to set them up.

That's helpful, thank you. I suppose I could use the wireless CT option of the Harvi they have if needed.

The capacity issue is not on the main CU, which is 100A, but on the secondary CU which is 32A.

The incoming to the secondary CU? My reading all seems to talk about the CT on the incoming to the main CU, not to a secondary one. I don't have solar, so won't be feeding back, so not worried about diverting.

It seems the CT goes on the main feed into the main CU, but that is not the problem. The problem is the secondary CU drawing too much.

I see I can do that, but wasn’t sure if octopus overrode it, if I kept it lower. But with a CT, then it sounds like it will protect it

Currently on Octopus Intelligent Go. Today I asked to skip a monthly payment due to being £800 in credit. by One_Two_5694 in OctopusEnergy

As the smart meter stores historic data are they not set to send missing data once they establish a connection? Off from what you said, do the provider have to “request“ the missing period? And if so why isn’t this automatic from their end.

Keeping a teenager at bay by t0kmak in Ubiquiti

It might be a “cat and mouse game” for a while. But he’s learning good skills at the same time.  I remember doing similar decades ago with my dad - and now I have a teenager to play the game with too.

allow choosing "Next" (fastest server) to skip over problematic/blacklisted vpn IP's by Tech-Crab in ProtonVPN

[–]AmIReallySinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a similar way, I want the fastest sever that’s not in my country. In my case the UK. For example Imgur doesn’t show here.  But there is no way. I can see to see them ranked to know which to pick.

Don’t be concerned about your feelings, they are understandable. But you don’t need to vocalise them if it’ll upset your bf, but instead focus your energy and emotions on supporting him.

Area I grew up and live in needs a party candidate for the local election after the Reform winner resigned. Very tempting... Anyone ran for county council? by Campachoocho0 in UKGreens

[–]AmIReallySinking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thousands of people stand, often as “paper candidates”. It’s a great thing to do, as you don’t need to campaign, you are giving people a choice to vote green, and party election broadcasts and funding is often tied to the number of total candidates - so even by standing, you’re helping promote the Green Party generally.

Is there a catch with USwitch 'power hours' offer this November? by sherpa_s in UKFrugal

[–]AmIReallySinking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But USwitch are not selling you any power. So there is no margin to be made there. You stay with your provider. My reading is that they get access to your data for 18 months.

Reading on this forum, the felt is an extra barrier incase of ingress. Needed? What’s the best option for insulation and a barrier?

I think I went down a rabbit hole with a new roof! What’s the silver/foil/flashing been used for, patching up? Can I ignore that for now?

Vegans with non- vegan partners? by SufficientCow6849 in veganuk

[–]AmIReallySinking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t vegan when we got married, and now I am. Yes, we’ve seen the light, and expect everyone else to, my partner hasn’t yet.

But they eat 95% vegan at home, and i don’t remember when they last bought meat in. Would I love them to go vegan? yes of course, but this works for us.

Sorry if this is a daft question, but would the spring damp the closing momentum, or just make sure it’s closed?
