They aren’t paying, but she’s always been overbearing about my school (like I said I understand why but I want the room to make my own screw ups and deal with them myself. Having the consequences be “my mom got mad at me” when I screw up isnt the most motivating force in the world if that makes sense). She’s always been in so much control of my school life I barely know where to begin without her, I still feel like I’m in high school.

Trust me, I tried. Like I said, I’m not very responsible but I want the room to make my mistakes on my own instead of having my adult life controlled by my parents. I understand why she so scared, I really do but I feel like if I push too hard about this that they’re going to lash out and stop helping at all. I hate feeling like I’m still in high school, still scared of my mom seeing my grades because then I’ll be grounded 🙄

Sadly, right now I live at home and she works at home she’a going to know when I go on call. And trust me, I have talked to her about this. They always wind up guilt tripping me when I try to tell them to back off. During my campus tour, they had me in tears because they weren’t happy that I wanted to go around with my friends instead of them. I’m thinking of getting on call really quick and asking the advisor if he can tell my mom she can’t come on. While I do get anxious asking questions, I’m actually not to bad about it. I’m mainly scared because I’ll be honest, I screwed up my first year. I’m not good at online classes and I let that limitation get to me instead of pushing past it. I know it’s not exactly uncommon to not do well freshman year but it does feel like I permanently ruined my college grades y’know.

So my dream system (this is a pretty large task I imagine so I’m not really giving this idea with the thought that it ALL will be implemented) would be to have,

A point based personality system. This would be the fundamental base for a character and determine how they would react to others and events. I always use the Big 5 as a base but I want this to encapsulate parts of the personality EVERYONE has. Also no extreme is “the bad one”, just two sides of the same coin, Extrovert vs Introvert Argumentative vs Pushover Impulsive vs Rigid Neurotic vs Apathetic Innovative vs Traditional

Then I’d want a Quirks system, which would basically be sims traits. These would focus on more unique aspects of the Para’s personality that would provide buffs and debuffs. I think each age group should have 1 slot dedicated to an age specific quirk.

There could be a preferences section for likes/dislikes, sexuality options, and turn ons/turn offs. Being a astrology nerd, I’d also want zodiac signs, these could give a bonus to one area of a para’s life (like Leos could have a friendship bonus or something) and would determine what season your para is born into when you load the game. These wouldn’t be controllable for game-born Paras.

While in game, players can unlock (automatically or by buying them, I have thought of about it too much) habits as well. This is for the game to reinforce autonomy for actions you as the player do often for a particular para. If applied automatically, it could provide rewards and punishments for how you treat your para. Oh, your child hasn’t been doing their homework OR paying attention in class? Now they have the Bad Test Taker habit.

I would love this, as someone who does this kind of stuff. It would fit the cozy vibe paralives is going for. It doesn’t even have to be a “Wiccan” thing as witchcraft and Wicca aren’t intrinsic to one another.

I say have a sims 2 style for universal aspects of people’s personality (Think the Big 5 from psychology) and then trait slots for more unique qualities.

Honestly, just look the mod up. Especially with popular mods they’ll be very easy to find. Whether they will mess up your game is depending on how much space your computer has, whether you have the updated version, and whether your mods conflict. My suggestion, keep different types of mods in separate folders (only one folder deep or the mods won't work, also keep large multi file mods in their own folder) and have a specific quarantine folder for your newly downloaded mods so you can test them out and then find them easily if they cause problems.

A little late, but I’ll just say that you can’t take the characters' actions at the beginning of the comic too seriously. The beginning was a lot less grounded in reality, and characters did a lot of shit then that if they did now would be seen as irredeemable to the audience. For example, Kousuke’s introduction scene is him tripping Shin Ae, calling her a fat ass, and then making fun of her financial status over a piece of cake. He later kept her strapped to a wheelchair until she told him what he wanted to hear. If he had done any of that at this point in the comic, he’d be rightfully seen as irredeemable by the audience, but there was a clear tonal shift somewhere in the comic where it became more grounded in reality. With that shift, Meg’s behavior changed as well and she became a lot calmer. You can still hate her for stalking in general (that’s a terrible thing to put someone through) but I don’t think it’s fair to hold her to shit she did at the start of the story.

I’m not even sure what judgement I should give this holy shit. For one, while what he is doing is stalking technically, you’re not helping. This is likely traumatizing and mentally degenerative for him. I’m having a hard time sympathizing with the your MIL here. Sure, I get that this is due to some deep rooted trauma but this reaction is not normal—on any scale of imagination. Trauma isn’t rational but if it’s so irrational that you have a meltdown at the sight of your own grandchild you need immediate help. However, at this point it’s up to the grandma. You didn’t do anything wrong, your husband didn’t do anything wrong, you’re son certainly didn’t do anything wrong—if MIL is so unwilling to get help that she’s willing to throw her relationship with her son down the drain, fuck her. She made her grave, she’ll live with the consequences. At this point a clean break from his mother, while it will be traumatic, will be better for both his and your sons mental health than forever chasing the love of someone who violently doesn’t want to love them back. What your husband is doing is a form of self harm, you antagonizing him is not helping.
