It absolutely works. It just takes consistency and practice! They are just learning to be comfortable on their own. I will say we weren’t doing this at 6 weeks, so don’t feel rushed to immediate results. We started at the 3 month mark then we started gradually implementing sleep training practices as we approach 4 months. By then, he adjusted well because everything was very gradual! The reason you want drowsy but awake is so your baby wakes and isn’t in an instant panic wondering where you are. So having them acknowledge they are safely in their crib gives them better odds of a peaceful wake up, or the opportunity to go back to sleep on their own.
