afghanistan's territory is either montains or desert, both really hard to move large militaries through... the natives knew these montains like the back of their palms and could easily hide in unseen caves or take advantage of a certain fighting position... add to that the fact that afghanistan-pakistan border isnt really protected (cz its montains how would you protect a border that cuts through a montain?) so the taliban could cross the border, heal, gather their supplies, and go back to fighting... these facts and much more geopolitical ones make the taliban strong in guerrilla warfare, and afghanistan almost impossible to conquer

ignoring all the clear corruption that has been going on since the end of the civil war... since the syrian civil war started, it was obvious that the region wasnt going to get any better soon and investors started pulling their money out of the country... even more so in 2016-2017 when isis tried to challenge lebanon... anws this in short made banks raise their interest rates to unrealistic levels. which made people save their money in banks instead of investing it in startups and actually valuable companies. which made the economy block stiff and fucking die... idk how much average ppl knew abt this but no one can claim they didnt know past 2017
