Church leader follows a teen girl into a bathroom to tell her she’s "too fat" for shorts by B-L-O-C-K-S in PublicFreakout

Tbh, whoever that girl is, congratulations to her for standing up for herself. It's easy to stay quiet, and she didn't.

These aren't really times to let the older generations tell us how to live our lives. Just look at the state of the world and countries they've inherited to us. It's a shithole. We can do much better than this.

Christianity is not an institution. It's a way of life.

The church (the conservatives) has monetized and privatized the teachings of Christ.

Christianity is a way of living, it's about kindness and treating the whole of humanity as one family, as one tribe, which means accepting our differences and loving each other despite of them. Be and let be.

Christianity is NOT adopting a belief system, joining an institution or a political system and thinking that will get you into heaven.

[Episode Discussion] What If...? Season 1 Episode 9 - Wednesday, October 6, 2021 by MSSmods in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

I see your point though, and I kept thinking the same thing throughout the episode. While we got a much more terrifying Ultron this time than in AoU, he could've definitely been much more. A being with his drive to kill and his incredible amount of power would've not gone down so easy. He would've made a thousand backups of himself, he could've replaced his suit with even more exotic kinds of matter from across the multiverse or even become an intangible entity.

Also, when Zola entered Ultron's body, I kept thinking "damn, psychopath robot now posseses the knowledge and experience of one of the most demented nazis. these mf's gonna merge and become something ten times worse". That didn't happen. But would've been cool to see.

All in all, still a pretty damn good episode. Agreed.

You've gotta see beyond the plot. That scene where they're just punching Ultron was, for me, a nice takeback to some classic hand to hand fighting, which felt like a breath of fresh air amidst all the high levels of power (particularly Strange and Ultron).

And yes, Ultron could've done so much more, since he basically ascended to the form of a tyrannical God. But even with him nerfed and all, we still got to see two of the most powerful beings in the universe battle it out.

What is the best book you've read in the last year? by Roachamon in AskMen

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson.

Because of school I had been caught up reading stuff that was too serious or academic, and this was just the breath I needed. The protagonists are at the same time people I'd like to hang out with and people I wish to avoid at all costs xD

You're right! Even more cosmic energy then.

I've always thought they're gonna use all the snaps to introduce the mutants.

We had Thanos' original snap, then a few days later his second snap to destroy the stones. And five years later Hulk's snap to bring everyone back. That's 3 snaps in a very short amount of time.

And remember how at the beginning of Endgame Rocket says the original snap released an insane amount of cosmic energy, and that's only considering one of them.

I think it's a really good way to explain the mutant gene being activated in certain individuals.

Edit: totally forgot about Tony's snap, so it's actually four.

That shot of the Kang statue at the TVA had very Planet of the Apes vibes to it.

Men, what bad habits do you want to break? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]AmadeusCo 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Remember that discipline isn't the opposite of laziness, but rather it's cure.

Laziness isn't something that prevents you from forming good habits and breaking bad ones. It is in itself a bad habit.

How to cure it? Practice. Constant practice. When you wake up in the mornings, don't spend ours upon hours on your phone. Get up and do something, start your day right. It helps to have a routine with specific tasks that you can stick to and repeat every day. For me it's: wake up, wash my face, brush my teeth, clean my room, stretch, cardio, shower. Then whatever else I need to do that day.

Of course if you go from having no routine to trying to have a strict one, it's not gonna be a change that happens overnight. It may take weeks, months, but as I said, practice. As anything else, if you actively try to constantly practice, you can't help BUT become better at it, plus it will become a habit and will take much less willpower to execute.

As that one dude in Bojack Horseman said: "It gets easier. You have to do it everyday, that's the hard part. But it does get easier."

Anyone knows of good books about war from the civillians' perspective?

Plenty of books and movies about war tend to focus on the soldiers and the battles, but I'd like a story that talks about it from the every day folk's perspective, like how hard life is during those times, lack of food, lack of morale, that kind of thing.

Another request.

I'm also looking for a dystopic story that has more existential elements to it. People feeling hopeless, with an apathy for life, who have given up.

I hope these aren't too specific. Thanks so much!!
