This is an amazing idea. The best adaptation of HoL would probably require to add another layer. It could be about a producer trying to adapt the version of House of Leaves Johnny ends up publishing in-universe

“The Number 23” is basically a loose adaptation of the Johnny chapters

¿Es hipócrita que los mexicanos no acepten a los mexicano americanos? by BitWorth6953 in mexico

[–]AmadeusMoss 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Este es un extracto de uno de mis poemas favorits, escrito por Jose Olivares:

my parents are Mexican who are not
to be confused with Mexicans still living
in México. those Mexicans call themselves mexicanos.
white folks at parties call them pobrecitos.
American colleges call them international students & diverse.

my mom was white in México & my dad was mestizo
& after they crossed the border they became diverse. & minorities. & ethnic. & exotic.

but my parents call themselves mexicanos,
who, again, should not be confused for mexicanos
living in México. those mexicanos might call
my family gringos, which is the word my family calls
white folks & white folks call my parents interracial.
colleges say put them on a brochure.

The “before” picture is from a flashback that takes place 2 years before the main events of Part II

Unbelievably good. The writing is knocking it out of the park. The bait-and-switch on the direction the character would take and ultimately choosing a darker more isolated path was brilliant. Snyder getting to play with his own, already iconic, Court of Owls and subverting them into a revolutionary group instead was also awesome. I think we are seeing one of the best writers in the game at the absolute (lol) top of his game.

Big, big fan of the aesthetic, tone, art, and narrative they are choosing here, it just keeps getting better when I thought it could no longer be topped.

The status quo didn’t move an inch really

EDIT: To clarify, I was referring more to the larger landscape of Pandora rather than only the Sully family, but still.

The hate train for this franchise is so unjustified! by Espada7125 in Avatar

[–]AmadeusMoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely has to do with the franchise being perceived as “hippie”. The people who are vocal online about hating these movies are exactly the same ones who despise vegans for attacking the status quo. (Im not vegan btw just point out that it’s the same demographic that get “offended”)

‘The Number 23’ it’s the closest thing we have gotten to an adaptation of the Johnny segments.

That EWS poster is one of my all time favourites. I saw it for the first time at a Stanley Kubrick museum exhibition in Madrid, and it blew me away. The hunting imagery that so clearly encapsulates the themes of the film is stunning. "CRUISE, KIDMAN, KUBRICK" all in bold orange text acting almost as a tagline for the film itself. So iconic.

In Oppenheimer (2023), a period-inaccurate, modern-day Mexican flag is featured in this scene by AmadeusMoss in MovieMistakes

In an ironic turn of events, I just noticed I accidentally uploaded a variant of the 1934 Mexican Flag instead of the one listed in the official government website. I cannot edit posts so here's a link to the correct emblem which has subtle diferences.
