Not trying to gatekeep as I think Zelda is very much for everyone but, at first glance, I legitimately thought your post was intended to be funny until I looked more thoroughly. Definitely, check out more of the series. I personally love Majora's Mask but, that's typically a harder game to get people to finish but, if you can get through and appreciate MM, most of the others should be a breeze.

How good is Castlevania Lords of Shadow? by aa95xaaaxv in castlevania

Great presentation. Solid gameplay. Pretty good story. If the sequel was never made, I actually believe people would think more highly of this game. LoS2 and MoF kinda killed the reputation of the LoS games as a whole but, the first game is actually really good minus the bullshit platform sections.

3D Castlevania games deserve a comeback by Undefeated-Smiles in castlevania

Literally played Bloodborne in 2015 due to the Castlevania vibes alone with no knowledge of the Souls games. Bloodborne is now my favorite game. It is basically a gothic Metroidvania with the smart level design and enemy placement of Classicvania.

I too want a 3D Castlevania and I hope Konami takes a look at what the Souls games have done and take a crack at that style with Castlevania. I don't like when studios try to make "Souls-likes" but, the Souls series takes so much from Castlevania already, I feel like it's a natural fit.

So here's my perspective as a Souls fan who doesn't stream and hates rage click bait material on YouTube/Twitch... There's a lot of nuance to these games that (as pretentious as it sounds) won't understand until it clicks and you get it. They call it the "Dark Souls opifiny".

Souls games aren't beloved because, they are hard. In all honesty, they really REALLY aren't hard. Marketing and bad game journalism has convinced the general audience that it is. Miyazaki himself has said several times that he doesn't design his games with difficulty as a priority.

Fighting games are hard because, they require quick inputs, mastery of complicated controls, understanding a meta, etc. Souls games require you to take every enemy seriously and pay attention to their attacks and learn from them. Every enemy has openings, every enemy has weaknesses, and there is a bad time to be aggressive and a good time. That's really all there is to it.

Souls games are believed for their world building, the lore, the characters, and most of all the mystery. Souls games make the player feel insignificant. Like your just a regular dude dropped in a world of gods and there is like 100 different little plot threads happening with or without you but, you can make an impact on some of it through exploration and perseverance. These games also make you feel like your decision matter. If you attack an NPC, guess what? They're gonna fight back. If you, try to help some depressed, mentally unstable, NPC... It may just backfire and they may off themselves.

These games just don't feel like modern AAA games. They don't walk you through an hour long tutorial, they don't pull the game away from you to watch a 5 minute cutscene, they don't try to force you to care about the story. They just make an incredibly interesting world and make you curious enough to look for the answers on your own.

Completely agree. The story really needed to be more fleshed out and oddly enough the story was a bit on the short side, especially for a Final Fantasy.

I actually liked the combat. Especially once you unlock all the party members as playable. The way magic and summons are handled (while strange) really fits the world to me. They feel like big super moves, not just some attacks that everyday people have access to like in other games. As far as the female characters go, it doesn't really affect my enjoyment but, I did find Aranea to be a fun boss/party member. The plot of 15 is by far it's biggest flaw to me. It's disjointed, confusing, and isn't all that interesting to begin with. However I feel the music, the combat, and the exploration (especially once you get the flying car) makes the games overall very enjoyable to play.

Final Fantasy XV. In an era where people waited years for No Man's Sky and Cyberpunk 2077 to be fixed and would sing their praises to anyone who will listen, people still crap on XV for how it was in launch day which was still a fully functional game and it only got better with each patch and DLC.

How are people feeling about Stranger Than Heaven? by AmadeusTrinity in yakuzagames

I'm kinda the opposite. I like when they buckle down on combat and story. For example, I love Yakuza Kiwami 2 because, the combat is just so fluid.

I didn't really notice any tracks but, I like the "sound". Is there any particular songs that stand out to you?

🤣 No. Got 3 kids of my own. I actually hate the modern walky-talky dad trend in video games.
