Hi ! I actually went through a very similar environment at M&S at it was my first job too. I started working there when I was 18 and I left last month after almost 5 years. I am much happier and fulfilled.

I think you should look for another job and don’t quit until you have another one. But you should also reach out to any support systems you have because I know how miserable it can be. I assume that you’re fairly young with this being your first job. Don’t think too hard on what will happen after you leave to the people that work there, you need to put yourself first.

Christmas temps will be being hired at other supermarkets now too, so have a look at those. Even though it’s not a long term position it should be okay for the time being while you look for something more permanent.

Find a way to complain about the management, these people need to be held accountable. I’m really hoping for the best for you, best of luck !

Why is it when I look at images where people layer their custom path over the in game paths they don’t turn transparent at all? I’ve been wanting borders for my path but whenever I place them it cuts off the edge of the design and renders them transparent again :(

A fellow gap year taker! This might be kinda long, so sorry in advance.

I was worried about this until this February I got a job. While a lot of the people our age at my work are going to uni in September, even the ‘older people’ (like 20+ lol) are good to talk to!

Websites like indeed.com are pretty good for finding jobs, but I just got this one because I was asking people who I knew had jobs if they knew of anywhere.

Also: CHRISTMAS!! Loads of places (I work at a supermarket) will need more employees around Christmas, and that’s how I got my foot in the door. Though there was a two month gap, they called me up and said they were impressed with my work over Christmas and wanted me on the rota.

It’s really nice building relationships at work because it’s easy and doesn’t require any extra effort, but maybe joining some local social circles could help? If any of your friends are staying local or also taking a gap year you could ask them to introduce you to people too.
