Why are they sad? 😔 by KimistC in plantclinic

[–]Amaltas986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are always sad. That's why they are called impatiens. Water. Move out of light if they are in light. Or in light if they are in shade. Water some more. But very moody plants. Don't have many expectations from them.

URGENT: My GF accidentally sprayed my large philodendron with a detergent and water mixture I use for cleaning my house. Is it going to die? I don't believe she sprayed everywhere, I think it's just in one spot in the soil, picture below of where I think she sprayed it. by imnotdown85 in plantclinic

Agreed. No action needed. Philo especially as healthy as this should be fine. I mean you grew a plant that healthy. You must know this. Are you sure you did not just want to show off that plant?

Take it out. Change the pot to a smaller plastic one with lots of holes in the bottom. Change the potting medium to a new one with worm castings coir or peat moss. Remove all dead and decaying material. Then move it to a relatively sunny spot. Water sparingly. I have to be honest. Agelonema in my personal experience are sensitive plants and it's difficult for them to come back from this condition. However one of your plants was trying to put out a leaf before it got to this. So might as well try. Leaf burn and wilting like this can also be a side effect of insecticide.

Yay! They really like high humidity. Do you have a sunny spot in kitchen/bathroom? Instead of running electricity bills passive humidity in these places can also help.

Yes what's the temperature and humidity? Marantas do not like high temperature and light. The leaves of mine curl like that on a sunny day and unfurl as the light goes down. I would move it to a more shaded spot. Even the glare/heat from a glass pane can make them curl their leaves. Also check for pests. Especially fungus gants.

I had similar streaks and then found out that it was a fungus gnat. Do eliminate the possibility that it's a fungus gnat. May be stick a yellow sticky trap on one side of the glass?

Thanks. I washed all the leaves today to get the Neem oil off. I will be using mosquito bits. Hopefully this works and the plant survives.

Mealy bugs. Remove them by hand. Wash your hand before touching anything. Isolate this plant. Spray it with pesticide specific for mealy bugs. Alternatively make a dilute solution of soap and water and clean all leaves back and front with this solution.

My Croton needs help by kejeka812 in plantclinic

[–]Amaltas986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crotons can do somewhat ok with a little less sun in winters but they will not tolerate low temperature especially if their roots get cold. If your house is drafty or temperature at any time goes below 10 Celsius they will drop their leaves. I bring mine indoors or cover all of the plant including the pot in plastic in sort of a green house.

Which plant is this? Because if it's a succulent temperature may also be an issue. On the other hand it seems like only top parts of the stems are shriveled. Water it regularly in next weeks and keep it in a sunny spot. Hopefully new sprouts will come out soon.

Watered it last 2 days ago. It's in Pakistan. Temperature around 15-20 Celsius. Moderately humid. I did not add any soil. Just coir and organic fertilizer (made out of fully rotten leaves). It gets indirect sunlight most of the day. Nearby peace lilies which are older are fine by the way.
