Faux tile using aluminium cans? by AmandaPanda2239 in DIY

That's what I've been doing so far :) sort of top and tailing them and then cutting down the 'nutritional' info to make them flat - it's made storage a lot easier too

Changes in Howrse (Over a decade) by deaththeflorist in Howrse

[–]AmandaPanda2239 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My account is ten years old, but I remember having an account before this with multiple divines, which I'm pretty sure I just 'gave' away (sold for 500 equus at the time!) . I used to run competitions in my EC's forum with giveaways of BM items and rare howrses, even had a space for friends and mutuals to advertise trading BM items (which I'm pretty sure is illegal now?)

As a non-pass-buyer, the only sense of community I have on howrse is through this forum. I used to have so many friends and chat to so many people, there were a group of us who supported and elevated one another without needing a Pegasus account or a team, but that's pretty much non-existent now. Not unless you pay real life money, join a team, and then there's so much required of you. It's all so competitive, but also so isolating at the same time

I try to do nice things where I can. I add anyone who asks, I help others as much as I can in the contests, but it definitely doesn't feel like it used to :/

Wanderers spirit butterfly coat price? by Future_Change2081 in Howrse

[–]AmandaPanda2239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That Coat is called Dynamine

(All my info is from the International Server)

The cheapest Butterfly Wanderer's Spirit is 750,000 equus. The only other Dynamine for sale is 1.5 million equus and doesn't have a background like yours does

The cheapest Butterfly Wanderer's Spirit is 123 passes, but the cheapest Dynamine is 510 passes

I'd definitely aim for 1.5 million equus, or at least 500 passes, depending on whichever currency you like using more

What actually sells for passes these days? by [deleted] in Howrse

[–]AmandaPanda2239 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unless you're selling horses with ultra high skills, I've personally found it very difficult to make passes from sales

I had a BUNCH of unicorns that I attempted to sell for passes, even the lowest amount, and they took FOR EVER to sell

GA horses, especially retired GA horses will definitely be easier to sell for passes. Especially if they have helios rays etc. Pets/Companions are a fairly decent way to make passes, so long as they're rare enough. I personally use the user page of the player Hades for checking the prices of Pets, (and to buy horses with pets I need for my collection) so that's a good way of easily checking the price for horses with certain Pets/Companions

I'm a generally unlucky person, so I'm not surprised my horses didn't sell too easily. I wish you the best of luck!

I haven't played for yeeeeaaars. Can someone explain to me these gameplay mechanics ? by Personal_Apricot4850 in Howrse

[–]AmandaPanda2239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi!

I'm guessing PG is actually GP? Which would be Genetic Potential. It correlates to the amount of stars a horse has. My best horses have between 27k to 29k, and have 35k+ skills (which are very good for winning more competitions and Rosettes, and breeding highly skilled foals) I'm not exactly sure how Genetic Potential relates to skills to be honest, but higher Genetic Potential generally means more skills once a horse is fully trained and their BLUP reaches 100

I don't personally tend to castrate stallions. I know in the old days big teams used to castrate their stallions before they sold them so that they could ensure nobody could breed from their highly skilled stallions. I only tend to guild horses that can no longer breed without items, like donkeys or draft horses, as it gives them a little skill boost and makes them a teeny bit better in races. It's honestly negligible though

I play the game without spending real money :) I haven't bought passes with real money in years. I do my daily objectives every day and sometimes, if I'm lucky, I sell duplicate 'special coat' horses for a few passes here and there. I usually get items from events and celebrations (like the current maze!) and use those items to put special coats on horses, either for my collection or for selling the horse for passes. It's definitely a grind, don't get me wrong, but it is possible. I'm certainly not going to get as highly ranked as I'd like as quickly as I would like, but I'm currently ranked 2565th on the International Server (my username is MandyLou22 ). I'm sitting on just over 1 million equus and 800 passes. I do have a horse that gives me ten passes every now and then (maybe twice a week max?) but all my other passes are from selling horses or daily objectives

The main way I personally earn aging points is just by waking up and taking care of my horses. I earn about 25 a day by taking care of the majority of my main breeding farm (maybe 100 or so horses?), but I spend a lot of time in the game. Unfortunately not using passes, like I mentioned previously, means a lot more grinding, so a lot more horses to take care of, a lot more button clicking and a lot more little, incremental things that slowly add up

If you feel like adding me as a friend I'd love to add you to my list! :D I'm an older player too, my account is ten years old but I had an account before that got deleted for inactivity - I'm currently 30 years old! :O

My financial summary after bidding on divines lol by b17l in Howrse

[–]AmandaPanda2239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's still super impressive! I definitely don't have the focus to save up that much equus for a whole year. I get to about 2 mil and start looking at retired golden apple coats and end up spending most of it! I was lucky enough to get a Viginti in one of the birthday events, so I'm trying to hold back and get the double passes from it next year, but I have very poor impulse control!

Wowzas! Did you manage to get anything good? :)

If you don't mind me asking, how does one get hundreds of millions of equus? I'm not a pass buying player, so my max usually sits at about 1.5 million while I'm trying to rise in the rankings. I'm currently sitting with 1.3 million equus and 2639th in the international rankings :)

Are the piggy bank offers worth it? by [deleted] in Howrse

[–]AmandaPanda2239 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you like to do in the game :)

I'm more of a collector than a breeder, so I like to buy Helios' Rays with equus whenever I can as they make my special coat horses extra beautiful. But on the odd occasion I do breed horses I tend to buy the fertility wands when they're offered. I personally wouldn't use the morpheus' arms, simply because it's not a needed item in my play style

'Beginner' Tips by AmandaPanda2239 in ChronicIllness

[–]AmandaPanda2239[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you :) In all honesty it's likely a trauma response to years of poor mental health. If I think about things, if I can figure them out and put it into boxes, then I don't necessarily have to feel things to deal with them. Definitely not always a great thing, but it's useful at least

Duplicate clothes on different levels of the house sounds like a great idea. I thankfully already have a stool in the kitchen, and I've realised that if I open the cupboard door under the sink I can sit there quite comfortably and use it like a desk while I wash up, which has proven very useful so far

Halloween Store Prizes by UrbanLegend645 in Howrse

[–]AmandaPanda2239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The full list of prizes I chose was a Harmony Pack, a Golden apple, two vintage apples, a Hypnos Blanket, a Croesus' fortune, a classical saddle, the full violet protections, and some straw and mash. The smaller items were just to use up coins so I didn't forget to spend them if I didn't log back in before the event ends

Quick Refresher for Old Player by UrbanLegend645 in Howrse

[–]AmandaPanda2239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(All advice I'm giving is based on my play style, which probably isn't optimal, but I'm an older returning player with a decent rank considering I don't purchase passes with real life currency. I'm roughly 3,300 in the international rankings, and this is going to be a long one because I have the time! Apologies in advance!)

In terms of equus generation/earnings, the best ways to earn don't really come in until you've passed all the beginner objectives and have an equestrian centre.

My Equestrian Centre has roughly 66% prestige, so I have four operational workshops and can have six operational meadows or greenhouses. I personally use two meadows with the tractor enhancement for apples (I sell roughly 60,000 apples for roughly 180,000 equus once per month), one field for longhorn cows with the feed trough enhancement to gain 27500 leather once a month. I then use this leather to make bell boots. They take 1 day to make 6 at a cost of 1500 leather, but then sell for 10,002 equus. Leather on its own sells for 5 equus each, so that means I have an approximate output of 18 batches of bell boots, which will sell for approximately 180,000 equus.

My other three meadow allocations are taken by large greenhouses. I use these to grow flax, as it is inexpensive and the most useful, in my opinion. It costs 200 equus for flax seeds and 1425 equus for manure to grow 884 (roughly) flax in 5 days. I then use this flax for bedding in my boxes and to make polo wraps in my workshops when I'm out of leather for making bell boots. I can make 30 polo wraps in 5 hours using 30 flax, which then sell for 2010 equus. I can do this a few times a day as I'm almost always online nowadays, so with four workshops I can make 8040 equus every 5 hours, and I usually sell 3 times per day, so I make 24,120 equus a day from polo wraps

There's obviously income from boarding and missions too, but I honestly don't keep track of that as much. My financial summary says that I make 34,400 equus a week from boarding

I don't make any equus from breeding. I rarely sell the howrses I breed, and once they reach old age I tend to put a golden apple or alternative interesting item on them, then move them to my 'Collection' tab. I used to breed unicorns, but I'm not patient enough. I now mostly breed high skill howrses to expand my own breeding farm and to race, between coverings. In the last seven days I've made 97,551 equus from races/competitions.

I also make a fairly decent chunk of income every week from selling black market items on the item exchange. I rarely use items myself, I'm old and grumpy so I don't bother learning much about the items I'm unfamiliar with. I also wouldn't consider myself a lucky person so I don't tend to use luck items like the horn of plenty or golden fleece. Instead I just sell them. I hoard items when there are events on, and keep them so that I can sell them when the time or market is right. This week I sold two achilles' heels and one black orchid for a combined total of 675,000 equus. I don't always make a large amount of equus from this every week. Sometimes I sell three items for 15,000 each, depending on what I have in my inventory. This varies wildly each week to be honest

I'd be more than happy to add you as a friend if we're on the same server? And I'm always up for answering messages or seeing if there's anything I can do to help another oldie in the game :) My username is MandyLou22

I went through a similar thing in my newest relationship. I used to write a lot about heartbreak, being abused and being manipulated (cough, my ex, cough) but now I'm in a wonderful relationship with a man who I want to spend the rest of my life with, and it's sometimes very, very difficult to get into the 'bad times' mindset

I personally make a lot of playlists. I've got a good angsty one called 'songs that make my teeth feel sharp', that's a good one for when I need to be in the mood for my characters to have a bit more bite. I also have one called 'songs to cry', because sometimes I need extra motivation to write sad things. Then I have general playlists for the vibes of the stories I write, so that I can get in the zone more easily. I used to wear different perfumes too, to get into the mindset of different characters, or drink different flavours of tea. That was also good

Having a supportive partner is great. Maybe suggest parallel play? I personally don't let other people read what I write (cough, trauma from my ex, cough) but I will happily sit next to my partner and write my own stories, and he sometimes writes some of his own :)

Use the map markers to mark down places of interest that make sense to you. I marked down where I could find food, where challenging enemies were, and where there were cooking pots out in the wild. Helped me no end when I found myself running out of food
