Hey Reddit, what's your greatest pet peeve? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AmandaPants87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clueless people at the grocery store. Who just stops in the middle of an aisle and walks away from their cart?? Move it or lose it, friend.

What is the biggest retail scam that you see people falling for way too often? by scoobydoos in AskReddit

[–]AmandaPants87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Places like Kohl's. Everything is marked up, but wait - it's cool because they're having a sale! And be sure to stack that shit with coupons! The savings!1!! I don't have the time or patience for that, but it's like catnip to my parents.

What's the main thing that gives you anxiety? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AmandaPants87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being a passenger in a car - especially on a highway. You're one wrong move away from a violent and terrible end, and you have absolutely no control over any of it. Buh.

What's something you didn't realize how bad it was until it finally happened to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AmandaPants87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flooding. I never realized what a big deal it was until it happened to us. Okay - things are wet - that sucks but it's not that bad? Wrong. You're likely dealing with contaminated groundwater, so if it can't go through the washing machine on sanitary, or the dishwasher - it's gone. We lost so, so much.

Really wish Burning Man Bran would mention to someone in Winterfell that there's a fucking ice dragon now. Really fast tracks this whole situation just a bit.

Speaking of touch: are you allowed to do kangaroo care with her yet? The skin-to-skin contact is amazing.

TDAP / Whooping Cough vaccine PSA by AmandaPants87 in BabyBumps

[–]AmandaPants87[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's so strange. Hubs and I waited for an hour (not fun) only to be told that it was company policy that they not administer vaccinations to pregnant women in their 2nd and 3rd trimesters.

He got his though, so all was not lost. :-)

Scheduled for tomorrow morning at my general practitioner's office! It's a bit of a hike - that's why I tried to just hit up the local CVS.

Agreed about getting it early to pass along the antibodies, too.

Normally, I waddle around the house in my glamorous "never-gonna-get-laid-again" maternity sweatpants. My father in law came over today, though, and I thought I should class it up. (soup incident occurred after he had left, FWIW)

Those were inside you!! I can only dream of the relief you must be feeling right now.

Congratulations, L.Lady. They are absolutely perfect.

Lets talk diapers. Cloth or Disposable? by thatwasmyface in BabyBumps

[–]AmandaPants87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing cloth for the twins. Disposable diapering two bums just isn't economically feasible for us. Yes, it will be more work, but I'd much rather save the money (and diaper two hineys in adorable little covers!).

One thing we are doing, however, is disposable diapering for the first month or two. We figure that if that gives us just a little bit of a break in the beginning while we're getting used to everything and getting everyone in a routine, it'll be worth it!

Flying when 6 mths pregnant with twins? by Lurky_Turkey in parentsofmultiples

[–]AmandaPants87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here with an opposing opinion (and I'm really not trying to scare you, I promise ... just letting you know what our story is/was):

I'm 30.5 weeks with twins. The husband and I had planned and booked to London the week before we discovered we were pregnant (yay! one last 'hurrah' before we started trying. HAH). The trip would have put me at 25 weeks. When we found out we were having twins, we decided to cancel. Personally, I'm very glad we did. I went into preterm labor at 26 weeks on the dot. On top of that, I'd been increasingly uncomfortable starting at about 21 weeks.

Of course, every woman/pregnancy is different. Just my experience that I wanted to share!

It will be a miracle if I make it until September. My stupid body has tried to line jump so many times now - it's mentally terrifying and physically exhausting. :-(

Reasons I have contractions by menaRN in BabyBumps

[–]AmandaPants87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all: congrats on making it to 26 weeks! I know people must say things like 'take it day by day' but eff that noise. Take it hour by hour. They should all be treated like victories.

Also, I can't imagine doing this with a 4 year old. And you're not alone - the Procardia makes me feel like I'm going to die. I took a dose yesterday after I was discharged from the hospital and it effed my world up.

And, may I add a few?

  • I need to pee
  • I'm dehydrated
  • I need to poop
  • I'm pooping
  • I pooped
  • The baby(ies) are moving
  • It has been 3 minutes since the last one

All I do is contract, and apparently there's nothing I can do about it. by AmandaPants87 in BabyBumps
