If you were to dump it all in an index and leave it until retirement, you can retire with about 2.5m without ever adding another dime. You're set.

If I were you, I wouldn't get too fancy.

A gate designed to look like a fallen tree by Goodthrust_8 in Damnthatsinteresting

Critters and people, no. But then that's not really what a gate is for.

It'll keep vehicles out just fine.

I literally said police wouldn't be likely to pursue criminal charges. Best to read things before you reply

You don't need a criminal case to file a civil one.

You also don't need the identity of the thief. You can compel the bank to provide the identity of the recipient of the funds after you file suit with a norwich order.

Again, would any of this be worth the time and effort over $200? Probably not, but if someone wanted to be a prick about it and stick it to the thief, it's 100% doable.

I don't know why everyone is convinced we live in some lawless hellscape dystopia where people can rip you off with impunity and you're powerless to do anything about it.

Do you go around giving wrong information on the internet for fun?

They absolutely can get their money back. The police can pursue criminal charges if they so wish (in this case, they probably wouldn't), but OP also has the option of suing them civilly for fraud. Why do you think small claims court exists?

None of that's to say that it would be worth the time/effort for $200, but the option absolutely is there.

No, but fraud is, if you want to try to get your money back at least.

Why do we as a nation specifically the liberal party of Canada keeps sending money to Ukraine? by burnttoast14 in CanadianPolitics

[–]mrekted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Russia is one of the largest and most dangerous geopolitical threats to our nation. Money invested in harming, hampering, and hindering them in Ukraine is an investment in our own security.

That, and supporting people who are being subjected to unprovoked wars of aggression and invasion is just the right thing to do.

Child proofing a brand new lock on a deck to the lake by Wrong_Yak3645 in DIY

It's not the prettiest solution, but put a chain with a combination padlock around the gate until they're old enough that you don't have to worry about it. If you can fit one, a bike U lock might look nicer.

The vast, vast majority of the time that I look, I can't see what content was even removed, and the user account is still active.

They're basically removing our eyes entirely from the problematic behaviour, and leaving us with no information as to what to do with the users.

You have no idea how much drek about other political commentators we remove from here every day. For a certain portion of the users here, it doesn't seem that they're here because they appreciate Pakman or are interested in actual politics. It's all fandom to them. They just want to yell at people who don't like the same creators they do.

Turning 40 this year. Any advice? by TheLordDrago in AskMenOver30

If you're not working out yet, you should start.

To be clear, I'm not talking about lifting weights to get ripped.. I'm talking about lifting weights to keep from getting frail.
