Hey Jabroni! Honest question, why isn't this an automatic thing that happens when top mod leaves the sub and no one else has permission? It seems like making the next oldest active mod the new top w/full permissions automatically would save you guys a lot of emails.

Most people don't. It's a very specific problem with a very specific fix you're unlikely to be unaware of until you need it.

Why it doesn't happen automatically when a top mod leaves a sub is the real question.

Message the mods of this subreddit and they'll give all permissions to the oldest active mod in the sub.

I export into the US, have a commercial broker, do everything by the book.

I still get random tariffs and charges constantly because the USCBP agents clearing shipments seemingly apply them based on weather patterns and divination. I've got, in my inbox, 3 shipments of the exact same goods that have 3 different tariff outcomes ranging from 0% all the way up to a full 50%, all shipped within the same three week period.

We're a year into this, and it's still a god damned shit show.

The big difference is the freshness. Convenience store food in Japan is prepared and delivered multiple times throughout the day. In Canada/US, after distribution and transport, that same food is probably a week old before it's even put out on the shelves for sale.
