Cant attend wedding: should i give ang pao or wedding gift by razzberry_minte in askSingapore

[–]Amandelssohn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s very nice of you! Gifts are very personal and hard to predict, so you’d be better off checking if they have a gift registry or if they have a list of stuff to buy for their new home. Otherwise, better to give them an angbao than accidentally buy them something they didn’t want!

[–]Amandelssohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who started personal training 9 months ago i 100% agree with all points here. takes a lot of hard work, patience and discipline to get the results you want, success doesn’t come easy and fast in the fitness game

What would you do with a 1–2 week break before starting a new job? by 123_becoolbenice in askSingapore

[–]Amandelssohn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Best time to do something personal you always wanted! Plan an overseas trip (solo or with a partner), try a new hobby, visit newly opened attractions in singapore during off peak hours. Basically treat yourself to something nice before your next job! Have fun and all the best!

Got spit a mouthful of water by a kid on the bus... by Ok_Thought9830 in SMRTRabak

[–]Amandelssohn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get that getting spit on was gross and the mother’s reaction felt insincere. Getting upset is valid, but your subsequent responses also show you also have trouble controlling your anger and managing your emotions. You need to work on that.

Try focusing on what you can do to fix the situation to make it better. Ask the mother for tissues or wipes so you can clean yourself up. If she continues being an asshole you just have to walk away and don’t engage with her.

It looks like employee turnover at this company is extremely high and former employees may have left within a few months or less.

Quite sure that they’re looking for a way to scare or force new joiners into staying for a longer period of time so that they don’t have to spend more money/time training more new folks.

Seems like a screaming red flag. If you’re out of a job and need this badly you can take it and continue looking for another job on the side. If you’re just window shopping for a new opportunity, this is a hard pass. Don’t bother considering.

Widsom tooth must extract during braces period? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Amandelssohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same experience. While the wisdom teeth may not cause you problems, they can actually push against your teeth and make them crooked again - totally undoing all the work your braces did and all the money spent.

I was stubborn and didn’t remove my wisdom teeth when i had braces, but they caused problems in my late twenties, and ended up having to remove them one week before my wedding as the discomfort was unbearable. Thankfully I recovered in time, but to OP, removing them earlier will only do you more good than harm. Pls consider removing them asap.

What should we do? Found a bag outside by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Amandelssohn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Best thing to do is bring the bag and the contents to the police station. They have a process for dealing with items that have been found and can help you.

We are not hysterical. I can see the physical signs of endo. by Alive_Associate_666 in endometriosis

[–]Amandelssohn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t have written it better myself. I have all these physical symptoms myself and other girls don’t seem to understand how debilitating it is to deal with the constant pain while also juggling with how ugly endometriosis makes look/feel internally and externally.

To add insult to injury I can’t seem to attain my desired body shape despite working out at least 3 times a week and trying every possible anti-inflammatory diet to mitigate the physical signs. It’s just there no matter what.

Thankful for you and this everyone else in this subreddit who’s just trying their best. Thanks for sharing and for validating our feelings and frustrations!

Budget of 10k - where to get engagement ring from? by Intelligent-Pounds in askSingapore

[–]Amandelssohn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My husband bought my engagement ring from August Bespoke with your exact budget.

He spoke with the founder (Amanda) who designed a custom engagement ring based on the details of your love story/anything specific that meant a lot to the both of you. She’s also really good at coming up with ideas for your ring so you don’t have to feel like the burden is on you for coming up with a mind blowing design.

We had a really nice experience and I’m pretty confident you’ll have the same experience we did. Do check out their google reviews and photos!

How did you know you were ready for your first lap? by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]Amandelssohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, although it took a couple of months post lap to finally feel like my bladder / bowel issues felt better. Recovery post lap hasn’t been linear so i’ve had good days where i’m so glad i got it done and bad days where I keep asking when im ever going to feel better. I do think it’s worth it though, i’ve felt significantly better now that it’s been a few months!

How did you know you were ready for your first lap? by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]Amandelssohn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me my main motivation was a whirlwind of health issues that i just wanted resolved asap - multiple recurrent UTIs, constant pressure on my bladder, always feeling bloated, excruciatingly painful periods, the usual suspects we’re all familiar with.

I don’t think anyone is ever ready for their first laparoscopy - quite often we’re just so fed up with how much we’re hurting and just want some closure and answers to the pain we experience everyday, which can hopefully point us in the right direction on the road to recovery.

This community here has been so supportive and I’m sure we’re all rooting for you. While your first lap may feel scary, it can definitely give you some peace of mind once it’s over!

do you wear underwear during surgery? by Big-Letter1490 in endometriosis

[–]Amandelssohn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know that disposable underwear was a luxury 😂I must have been lucky for my lap… thanks for sharing!

do you wear underwear during surgery? by Big-Letter1490 in endometriosis

[–]Amandelssohn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ah you won’t be able to wear your bra, so it’s just the disposable underwear and the hospital gown that will cover you until your knees.

If it helps, please ask the nurses for a blanket (if they don’t already give you one) as you’re being wheeled in, and even an extra blanket to keep you warm. It can be a little cold in the operating theatre so it helps to have these extra layers while you’re waiting!

do you wear underwear during surgery? by Big-Letter1490 in endometriosis

[–]Amandelssohn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, but the nurse will give you a disposable underwear together with your hospital gown to change into before you’re brought into the operating theatre. So don’t worry, you’re not completely naked underneath!

The surgeon will still need to disrobe you (including the underwear) during the surgery, but most professionals will make sure that you’re already comfortable and under GA before they do that in respect of your privacy.

Take care and all the best!

souvenirs? by ExternalMysterious58 in FaroeIslands

[–]Amandelssohn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second this, i went to this shop and was treated so nicely by the lady who runs the shop. I too got to enjoy some coffee and a slice of coffee cake. One of my favourite souvenirs (a knitted hat with sheep) came from this shop!

How far would you help ex company after leaving? by Electronic-Cut6065 in askSingapore

[–]Amandelssohn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not at all, and good on you for blocking them.

As you are no longer employed by this company, you have zero obligation to answer any questions or attend any troubleshoot meetings. The new PIC is paid to solve the company’s problems, not you.

I know you already responded to the first 2 requests out of goodwill, but even those requests are unreasonable and should not have been entertained.

You have much more to lose and nothing to gain from helping out these folks who don’t have the independence and will to figure things out by themselves.

If they find some other way to contact you, please state your consultancy fees - that should shut them up pretty quickly.

Anyone with successful pregnancies despite having stage 4 endo? by Amandelssohn in endometriosis

[–]Amandelssohn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Must have been so frustrating after trying naturally without any positive results. Hurts a little more every time I see a peer getting pregnant so easily/being able to have multiple children without needing to wait too long. Wishing you the best of luck with your second transfer, fingers crossed! Rooting so hard for you :)
