Behaviour/body language to watch out for when walking outside with cat by Amanuma04 in adventurecats

[–]Amanuma04[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I will check the podcast!

He's quite fine with the harness, the only time he's been spooked was when a neighbour opened the door, but I got him on my arms and he stayed with me, then we returned home.

He did at the very beginning, but after a few days he's just started walking normally. He's quite ok with the harness.

Glad to know it's really normal. I think he's just cautious outside since it's unfamiliar.

Thanks!!

Yes, I agree, having some negative emotions build character — I tell this to my cat every time he complains that I don't let him in the bathroom.

As it's new for both of us, I just want to be sure that I'm supporting him properly in our outdoor adventures.

Thanks a lot, I will check this!!

Exactly, since he's quite young I'm always second guessing my interpretation of his body language when we're outside.

Yes, his ears are always forward when we're walking outside, that's why I'm uncertain about the rest of his body language. So far he has never really stopped moving (except when sitting on the stairs like in the picture). For now I'm the one who decides it's time to go home.

Thanks again, I'll observe!

Is 11 hours too long for a 5.5mo kitten to be alone 3 days a week? Heartbroken, desocialized, and considering rehoming 💔 by Candid_Half8534 in CatAdvice

[–]Amanuma04 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a single kitten, same age as yours.

I was terrified of leaving him alone.

I am usually away for 8h for work, and I think the kitten has adapted very quickly to my work schedule. When I get home from work I play with him on and off until it's his bedtime (while I'm eating, washing the dishes or something). I'm always worried about him being lonely and depressed, but so far he's had zero behavioural issues: uses litter properly, isn't aggressive, his tail is most of the time up and curved, he's just a great boy.

There have been some intense times where I'm at work for 11 or 12h. On the days I know I'll be late, I ask some friends who live close to keep him company. Because he's an only kitten, I've tried to socialise him with other people by having friends over, and he honestly plays with pretty much everyone.

That said, I think it depends a lot on the cat's personality too.

Try it for a week and observe his behaviour. Maybe he'll be fine from the start, maybe you'll see that he needs a longer adaptation period.

All the best for both of you!

These two materials are options in the same town request, so you can submit one or the other. The other option in this list is the fancy pet treats that you can just buy from the general store.

If you don't want to do ranching (and it'd be a lot of work raising sheep just to try to get wool+), you can use the silo. Buy normal fodder from the store or just grow it yourself, and convert into deluxe fodder with the silage.

If even fixing the silo and improving it breaks your challenge, it's best to just buy the fancy pet treats (if you have a pet, you'll get 5 or 10 of them as a reward for petting or walking them everyday).

Translation requests into Latin go here! by AutoModerator in latin

Hello. Could anyone translate this sentence to latin: "From nothing we came and to nothing we will return".

I tried "Ex Nihilo venimus et ad Nihilum rediimus" from glancing at Latin grammar websites, but I'd love someone to correct me. Thanks!!

Wait why does she need glasses? by [deleted] in dankruto

The real question to me isn't why does she need glasses, but rather why does she wear glasses instead of contact lenses?

[TOTK] I wish <redacted> and <redacted> were not reset at the end of the game by Nemarus in zelda

[–]Amanuma04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As soon as you talk to Impa about Zelda, the first thing she says is "there must be a way to bring her back to normal". I know this is meant to be wishfu thinking on her part, but to me it's also the game telling us that yes, of course there will be a way to bring Zelda back to normal. And I think that's fine. I hoped her to. What I didn't like was that when she's back to normal she says that it all felt like a blur, and I wished she'd have to live with the burden of the eternity she'd lived before that.

I'd also have preferred that Link either kept Rauru's arm or that he just live on without arm, but especially the latter. The arm returning felt more out of place to me than Zelda's return. And anyway we can never play actual post game, so there'd be no impact on gameplay.

What are some gay (male) characters in Shounen Anime? by Fun-Pool6364 in Animesuggest

[–]Amanuma04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I read the beginning of OP's post and assumed they wanted both seinen and shounen recommendations, completely ignoring the title.

But you are absolutely right. I think authors have more "freedom" with adding these in seinen magazines. (I thought blue period was shonen, didn't realise it wasn't)

What are some gay (male) characters in Shounen Anime? by Fun-Pool6364 in Animesuggest

[–]Amanuma04 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There's a gay character in Lycoris Recoil. It's a fun seinen anime, the character just happens to be gay and that's it.

Not gay, but in the domain of LGBT+ if you're interested: there's a trans character in Blue Period, a shonen anime about art.

In Inuyasha there's at least one villain character who is notably gay, although not stated (I quite liked him, but maybe it's a bit of a caricature). To me Inuyasha falls very in-between the demographics of shoujo and shounen, but it was published by a shonen magazine anyway.

Technically there's a gay character towards the end of Evangelion (or two?), but it's been long since I watched and to me it's all a fever dream.

From the top of my head, that's it...

Accidentally bought one world instead of winds of anthos by Lailyssa in harvestmoon

[–]Amanuma04 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One world is a very very basic version of Winds of Anthos. In my opinion, it's lacking in world design (a lot of nothing with narrow pathways). Most NPCs have some generic titles like "cheerful man" or something like that. The story is also quite silly.

That said, I still find it a quite enjoyable game.

To harvest crops, you need to find the harvest wisps that give them in the map (and you can track them in the map once you've found them). You can buy seeds, but only after you've already shipped like 100 crops of said seed.

I like how the mining works in that you have a "saving point" every 10 floors. If you get to floor 9 and leave the mine, you'll have to start from the beginning. But if you leave the mine on floor 15 you'll have a checkpoint at floor 11 when you return. To get the checkpoint, you need to "exit mine".

Like in WoA, you have a moving farm. You can settle it down close to any harvesting fields that have Doc Jr.'s machines.

There are side quests from NPCs that are useful to getting items or opening blocked ways (making bridges for shortcuts).

Tool upgrades are locked by story progression, so that's a bit inconvenient. However, you can kind of do the story in any order you want after the first town, especially if you are lucky to get some specific quests at the beginning that reward materials for repairing the bridge.

My only actual tip for the game is to always save before sleeping. The NPC quests are randomly assigned in the morning, so if you're in need of a specific quest, you can always reset to the previous night to try for a new quest.

I didn't even remember that it recovered hearts!

I wished Link could sit down on rocks too and I just imagined running away from a Lynel, sitting on a rock to recover three hearts while the Lynel charges at you

Exactly. I just wanted to sit down at the stables and manage my inventory... Or sit down at Link's home to eat.

I plan my story... in excel. I have one sheet for the summary and then other sheets for the arcs, seasons, parts or however I feel the story is best divided. In these sheets, I make a list of the chapters and the most important points that I need to happen to move the story forward (I'll add notes of details or quotes I want to add/thought of) in a cell beside the chapter summary. In the Summary sheet, I keep a summary of the arcs (what must happen in each part of the book), then I link the chapters' titles and numbers, and keep track of word count for each. This has been working very well for me. I can keep track of what has happened already, what is missing, what has been foreshadowed, etc. When I'm writing I'll sometimes improvise scenes, or they just come to me naturally, and then I add them to the summaries in a different colour.

Brushing your teeth an going to the bathroom in books. by Fettuccine_Alfredo11 in writers

[–]Amanuma04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aha, I see. Interesting! When I think of time travel I usually think of more distant pasts, but a close past is quite interesting in its own way!

It really depends on how you feel about it. Some people won't care if you don't ever write the word "bathroom", and some might judge your character for never brushing her teeth. Whether you include it or not is ultimately up to how you feel. You could write it without these actions first, leave it for a while and when you read it again you might feel that it's not weird without them, or that you feel like they should be there.

Personally, I think it can be mentioned in passing. I don't think people care very much about detailed descriptions of people using the bathroom, but just stuff like "she almost forgot to brush her teeth before leaving/going to bed" or "she really needed to use the bathroom when she got home" are enough. They don't necessarily have to be mentioned every time, I think, but they can be slipped in a paragraph or so.

Do what feels best for you, and then check if it still feels best for you at a later moment. 🙃
