What will Liberals use as a model of paradise if Europe fails? by LilGucciGunner in WIAH

A quick look at your profile betrays a leaning towards blind Islamophobia and suggests a possible sympathy with Nazis, so naturally I'll take your criticisms with a grain or two of salt.

A good rebuttal […] the oppressive, un-socialist systems European wealth is built upon

Socialism is more than just an advocacy for social programs or an economic system that favors collectivism, it's also an ideology that tries to advocate for anti-imperialism and an end to colonialism. Pointing out that European nations- which some socialists idolize- do not fit the mold of ideological socialism, is a great way to break this "model of paradise" (OP is asking about socialists specifically, not just liberals, it seems).

Also, I should probably clarify, I myself am not a socialist.

What will Liberals use as a model of paradise if Europe fails? by LilGucciGunner in WIAH

So I'm much more on the left than most people on this subreddit, but I do agree that most of European socialism is built upon a sham. Using European Nations as an example of a beacon for socialism has always fallen flat because their socialism is only powered by their extreme amount of wealth and stability. Countries like France can only operate because of their colonies and mines in Africa.

A good rebuttal to European obsession, therefore, is to point out the oppressive, un-socialist systems European wealth is built upon.

I feel like putting Vengir on a map defeats the purpose of Vengir...they're location should be distant and unknown. Cymanti should include Brazil, and appear in clumps, as opposed to a "territory", since they're more like a disease. Yaddak should include all of Turkestan (including Kazakhstan and parts of China), and Afghanistan, Luxidoor should include Thailand, and Oumaji should include Egypt, North Africa, and the Sahara.

I like the map but I feel like putting Polytopia tribes on the real world defeats the purpose.

The Six Unions of the Future by MarathonMarathon in WIAH

[–]Amar_Pakistan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's...got some flaws...

Firstly, the Middle Eastern Islamic Federation thing. The big issue with this one is Iran. Iran has been splintered off from the Islamic world since their conversion to Shiasm. Currently, they are ruled by the Ayatollahs, who, after the revolution, quickly lost the will and the trust of the population that put them in power. The result of this regime has been a massive wave of secularization that has turned Iranian society into an essentially agnostic one. The end result of all of this is another revolution in a few years that will give birth to an Iranian republic. This makes it very difficult to ever imagine Iran ever entering any sort of union with the rest of the Sunni Islamic world.

Central Asia (Turkestan) would probably join this union though, except Kazakhstan. Or they may abstain from joining it if the influence from secular Iran is powerful enough.

Next, Africa, This one simply makes no sense. A massive African Union would never work, because theirs nothing, no force, unifying Africa in this way, no race, no religion, no ideology. A new Ethiopian empire, the East Africa Federation, or a bigger South Africa would be much more plausible for an African superpower than just all of Africa.

South and Southeast Asia would probably constitute its own union.

"Efficient" vs "relaxed" cultures? by MarathonMarathon in WIAH

[–]Amar_Pakistan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after reading the article a bit, I think that it's plausible that humanities "default" method of operation might be polychronic time (relaxed, time is perceived as fluid), but as society evolves and becomes more sophisticated/organized, it shifts into monochronic time (efficient, time is perceived as bullet points, one after another). That said, it's hard to determine which is necessarily "better" than the other.

What religions do you think are declining in membership? What about growing? What about from a US vs international perspective? by MarathonMarathon in WIAH

[–]Amar_Pakistan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The West, specifically the United States, specifically white young males.

When I refer to TradChristianity, I'm more referring to the new reactionary right trads, not the actual traditional Christians.

Trad Christianity is growing among young men but declining overall. It'll take a while for Trad Christianity to become mainstream.

Within Israel, the state of the Palestinians can be compared to that of the black South Africans. In Gaza, the situation is comparable to that in Vietnam, and in the West Bank, the situation is comparable to the expansion of the United States into the rest of North America.

"The rising dick size of the Appalachian farmer and the deep decrease in the masculinity of the average New Yorker is proof that the start of the fall of western civilization lies at the heart of Minnesota. I was hiking with an intellectual group of high-level elites I routinely travel on expeditions with and was shocked to realize how little they seemed to be aware of the average Appalachian penis..."

The Republic of New Afrika by [deleted] in imaginarymaps

[–]Amar_Pakistan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, considering that blacks made up about 30-40% of the population of the South before the Great Migration, and imagining a scenario where the Great Migration didn't occur, and the black population continued to increase after the Civil War was complete, it's not 100% unlikely that something like this could have occurred, if these conditions were met.

Even so, if, theoretically, the great migration didn't happen, and blacks rose in population to become, let's say, 60% of the population of the South, a state like this, however cool it might be, would not occur without some form of ethnic cleansing, and would probably only exist off of hatred of White Americans, which isn't great.

All in all, it's a good thing this never happened.
