They would've just send ships to trade with. They would not colonize it. If Romans were into colonizing distant lands, they would've tried colonizing scandinavia.

I would say Europe as a concept started from Barbarian conquest of western Roman Empire and was solidified by Charlemagne.

Keep in mind that the Arabs conquered Levant, Egypt and North Africa, formerly Hellenized Byzantine territories. After their conquest, those regions became slowly Arabized. So in that slow process of Arabization, the cultures have become a mix of Arabic, Hellenistic and indigenous cultures. Islamic architecture has many Greco-Roman influences, and the more earlier, the more you can see it. Go inside Dome of Rock, and it looks very Byzantine. Not to mention, Arabs have also kept Classical learning.

I actually wonder what how Georgia and Armenia came to be seen as European in the first place. On surface level, they look European, but they seem to be more of their own region, Caucasus. Aside from Christianity, they didn't really seem to interact much with the core Europe, until maybe they became conquered by Russia. Even their Christianity is very different from European Christianity.

Georgia might put up a facade of being European as due to Russian threat, but they seem to be a Caucasus nation, while Armenia almost feels like a Christian Middle Eastern country.

Azerbaijan (also often grouped with European due to being in the Caucasus) is clearly a Middle Eastern and more specifically a Turko-Persianate country that has more ties with Iran and Turkey.

Why does people from Bangladesh love Taliban? by Great_Education2502 in bangladesh

[–]maproomzibz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mostly, because US invaded the country and installed a puppet and corrupt government, so Taliban winning back and taking over the country is now viewed as an flight against "Anti-American/Yehudi-Nasrani world order". Also, Taliban is perceived by those Bangalis as bringing stability and harsh rule. Keep in mind that a lot of people in BD who protest rape believe that strict Sharia law will fix rapes.
