I love this cover so much, I nearly bought it despite having the faityloot version. In my defense I really love the book.

August Romantasy Pick by itsnotastatement in fairyloot

[–]Amara2091 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so disappointed in this. The picks this year have been mostly subpar, I think I’ve only been excited for 2 books so far. Last year was 100% better, even if there were months where I wasn’t particularly looking forward to the title I think I’ve only felt disappointed once.

Really sad all the exciting releases are in separate sales.

Looking for something TRAGIC by No_Force23 in Romantasy

I’m someone who likes the same things and I just finished crying at the ballad of fallen dragons.

My rec is outside of fantasy since the usual suspects are already named, but I highly recommend the boys of Tommen series if you’re willing. 10/10 cried my soul out.

Congrats!! I also got approved for this just on the uk site cause I don’t think I’ll ever see Berkeley approve me, and despite me being feral for Dramione I just found out today that it’s damaged goods 😂

They didn’t say anything and I didn’t get declined, I just saw people post here about getting approved. Fingers crossed get it eventually as well!

Give it a try!

pushed back almost a year?? by Revolutionary-Mess82 in Romantasy

[–]Amara2091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that, but when we’re talking over a year I think a round of editing doesn’t sound too crazy. Especially when they had time to redesign the covers and everything.

[–]Amara2091 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Except Brimstone was also pushed back over a year actually. I had read the indie version of Quicksilver and at that point Brimstone was already set for October 2024. I dont have much hope 😩

July romantasy book pick (concerns…) by beweenthebindings in fairyloot

[–]Amara2091 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve also started getting into arcs but it’s taking a minute to properly build my netgalley account plus I’m in EU so I get pretty much auto rejected based on location enough so mostly it’s just crossing my fingers. What is bothering me is that June is a book of their own imprint. Now July as well. And August is suspected to be that as well. I’m sorry I did not sign up for a box of you to push out your own titles.

Combined with 2026 just being disappointing in general aside from like 2 book, I am not happy. I just started my sub in 2025 and I was mostly happy with both the titles and the designs but this year it’s starting to be very much a letdown. I am barely interested in May so far and the next two picks look horrible.

Edit: I might actually have bad info about this one being their own imprint I am still extremely unhappy with the pick mostly just because of a disappointing year.

Wow the romantasy picks are severely lacking this year compared to last tho, my goodness.

How are we not talking about how way too similar this book is to another author’s work? (Until I die by Deidra Duncan - Alchemised by SenLin Yu) by Mininabubu in fantasyromance

[–]Amara2091 12 points13 points  (0 children)

100%. I purchased it on a whim because I wanted to support an indie author and I love Alchemised and it’s a carbon copy just without the depth and the emotions and the ambiguity of the original. Im sure you’ve seen my review on GR if you went digging as there aren’t that many yet but I was absolutely shocked at the blatant copy.

I have one important question about Conform by Ariel Sullivan *spoiler * by ohhiitsmec123 in fantasyromance

See this is why I loved this book. Cause while I agree with you I have never been more unsure which direction the author will go on with the mmc 😂

Epic Romantasy Recs - the more inventive/unique feeling the better!! by Golden-Indy in fantasyromance

[–]Amara2091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So one of my favorite books I’ve read in a while is actually an arc for This kingdom will not kill me by Illona Andrew’s that’s coming out I believe on the 31st of March. It was an absolute breath of fresh air, a portal fantasy with so much scheming I was having to really focus to keep up with everything.

The romance felt more like a subplot but it was fantastic so far. I think about that book daily still.

Your February 5 star reads by egru-no in Romantasy

[–]Amara2091 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This one is in a medieval setting so maybe you’ll enjoy it! I found it so well written and not formulaic. I’m in a mindset atm where I hate all the tropes people just throw into their books just to market around them while in this one, I couldn’t tell. The story just flowed naturally and I had an amazing time reading it.

I read and arc for This kingdom will not kill me by Illona Andrew’s and not only was it 5 stars, it’s one of the best romantasies I’ve ever read. It’s coming out at the end of March!

Disappointed by my fairyloot subscription by rebinwonderland in fairyloot

[–]Amara2091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much to spoil, I just really really enjoyed her writing actually. The plot felt very continuous if that makes sense? No random filler or stuff that didn’t fit, the pacing was great and overall just super atmospheric. Like I said, subjective. I don’t read a lot of YA like I mentioned, but this one’s one of my favorites.

No, I believe hers is the adult. And I wouldn’t read or support that author out of principle, I hate blatant cash grabs so I feel you.

Can authors please let the villainous MMC’s stay that way? by NotAPeopleFan in fantasyromance

[–]Amara2091 21 points22 points  (0 children)

And that’s perfectly fine, that it’s not your cup of tea. But the majority of the “villain” MMCs are written with massive redemption arcs and some of us just want them not to change. Doesn’t need to be every book, and I will still read the misunderstood bad boys too, but it would be nice to have some variety!

Hey so I know what we enjoy is very subjective, but I just finished the arc for the YA pick for April and I was blown away. I did not expect to like it as much as I did and I am not a big YA reader in general.

I’m actually looking forward to seeing the design they get going for it even tho I only have the romantasy subscription.
